Vivienne Benesch, Producing Artistic Director of PlayMakers Repertory Company, is the recipient of the 2017 Zelda Fichandler Award, given by the Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation.

Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF) announces that Vivienne Benesch, of Playmakers Repertory Theater (Chapel Hill, NC), is the recipient of the 2017 Zelda Fichandler Award.

The Broadway at Birdland concert series was proud to present singer Nicolas King, along with musical director/pianist Mike Renzi, in a concert celebrating the release of their latest recorded collaboration, 'On Another Note.'  The packed house was treated to a performance of swinging standards sung and played by King, Renzi, bass player Alan Bernstein, and Julie Jacobs on drums.

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, announces that at the 27th TCG National Conference: Full Circle in Portland, OR, from June 8-10, the following awards will be presented.

 The Growing Stage, The Children's Theatre of New Jersey, located in the Historic Palace Theatre on Route 183 in Netcong continues its 35th Anniversary Main Stage season with THE NEVERENDING STORY (Atreyu And The Great Quest).  The show runs March 10th through the 26thwith performances Friday evenings at 7:30 PM, Saturday and Sunday matinees at 4:00 PM. 

The first was the 1988 original film, the second was the 2002 Broadway musical, the third was its 2007 film adaptation, and then the 2016 live television production on NBC. As a Welcome to the 60's, let's go back to beginning to learn the history of the property itself.

C.S. Lewis' 1950 fantasy novel, 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' has withstood the test of time, delighting generations of children and adults, religious and non-religious alike in book, film, and theatre form. Adrian Mitchell's musical adaptation of 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' now performs at the Seattle Children's Theatre with a narrative faithfully streamlined from the original text. That very faithfulness certainly has its pro's with those familiar with the Christian allegory, but cramming every moment from the book into a two-hour musical made the story feel rushed. This is one aesthetically dazzling production that, as the adult, may require some explaining to the kids after the show.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts announces the 25th anniversary of the biennial workshop NEW VISIONS/NEW VOICES from May 6 to May 8, 2016. Dedicated to the development of new plays and musicals for young people and their families, this innovative series pioneers a unique forum for the field of theater for young audiences (TYA).

NOW That's What I Call Music!, the world's best-selling multi-artist album series, has announced that they are set to release their first ever NOW That's What I Call Broadway! on Friday, April 29, 2016. The album will feature 18 music tracks from the original cast recordings of some of the Great White Way's most legendary shows. The album features liner notes by David Cote, theater editor for Time Out New York as well as a playwright and librettist/lyricist.

Young People's Theatre is proud to present everyone's favorite bedtime story, GOODNIGHT MOON. YPT is delighted to bring the work of acclaimed theatre company Seattle Children's Theatre to Canada for the first time. Fredericks, The Growing Stage's Executive Director with musical direction by Stephen Fox and Choreography by Jillian Petrie.

DALLAS, OCTOBER 15, 2015 – The Dallas Opera is the proud recipient of a substantial gift from Linda and Mitch Hart which will be used to provide long-term support for an exciting, new company initiative.  The much-anticipated international institute for women opera conductors will henceforth be called “The Linda and Mitch Hart Institute for Women Conductors at The Dallas Opera.”               This innovative program is designed to support the career aspirations and advancement of women conductors in the field, while addressing the various problems resulting from deep-seated gender stereotypes at the top of the profession.  

Seattle-based actor and director Matt Wolfe recently took the reigns as artistic director for SHOWTUNES Theatre Company. His first full day of work was Monday October 5, 2015 and he is knee-deep in preparations for the start of the expanded three-show 2015-2016 Season. On December 5th The Washingtonians will kick things off by performing Songs We Know; it will be their first concert after a 12-year hiatus and more than 65 chorus members are expected to participate.
