Disney's popular screen-to-stage adaptation of NEWSIES ended its run on Broadway this weekend after more than 2 years on the Great White Way and a new video featurette focusing on the final lottery is now available to view.

Just last night, the cast of the Tony Award-winning musical NEWSIES bowed for the last time at the Nederlander Theatre. NEWSIES featured a Tony Award-winning score with music by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken and lyrics by Jack Feldman, with a book by four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein. Produced by Disney Theatrical Productions, NEWSIES was directed by Tony nominee Jeff Calhoun and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli, who won a 2012 Tony Award for his work. The national tour company of PIPPIN challenged the Broadway cast of NEWSIES to complete the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, and the boys have taken them up on their dare. Schmackary's Cookies, The Official Cookie of Broadway, will hold its 2nd annual 'Broadway Bakes' fund raiser from May 26-31. Schmackary's is located in the heart of the Theatre District at 45th and 9th Ave. in Hell's Kitchen.

Brigham Young University's a capella group Vocal Point pulled together 85 student performers and crew members to stage a showstopping, stripped down one-shot tribute to NEWSIES - and they undoubtedly succeeded.. Check it out below!

Rosie O'Donnell, one of Broadway's biggest supporters, went to see the Tony Award-winning smash-hit musical Newsies at the Nederlander Theatre (208 W 41st St.) this weekend. Following the performance, Ms. O'Donnell went backstage to meet the cast, later tweeting, 'LOVED IT SO MUCH - amazing talent on that stage!'
