Emerson Steele and Kelly Lamor Wilson put together a dynamite show to celebrate female empowerment. Whether it was Charlotte Maltby's slightly quirky, 'Grace Kelly' or Laura Bell Bundy's differently quirky, 'Digital Disease' or Annie Golden's emphatic, warrior anthem, 'White Picket Fence,' each song and performance showcased unique talent.

This past Sunday, February 23rd Feinstein's/54 Below celebrated women with I AM WOMAN: A Concert For Female Empowerment. The night boasted some of Broadway's favorite females of Broadway as they came together to share their feelings not just as women, but as human beings. From sexuality to spirituality, from health to harassment, no subject was off-limits.

BWW Review: Washington Ensemble Theatre's IS GOD IS Gives the Bloody Brutal Without the Context
by Jay Irwin - Sep 8, 2019

Context is Key. Without context, your message can be completely lost. Such has happened with Washington Ensemble Theatre and their season opener, Aleshea Harris' a?oeIs God Isa??. If you look up information on the show or even read the promotional material put out by the theater, the show a?oeInspired by Spaghetti Westerns and Afro-punk, this electrifying play follows twin sisters who go on a killing spree to exact revenge on their creatora?? bringing up notions of allegory and some comedic undertones. In fact, from what I could find about the original production, that's where they aimed. But here they've missed the mark on the context and are left with a story of violence and revenge leaving me, after the show, to ask a?oewhya??.

BWW Review: Horse in Motion's Immersive HAMLET in Stimson-Green Mansion Truly--and Triumphantly--Unique
by Amelia Reynolds - Apr 26, 2018

It did not surprise me in the least to discover that Horse in Motion's immersive “Hamlet” is completely sold out for the remainder of its run. On the evening of my attendance, the waitlist was twenty people deep. If you get lucky enough to see the production, whether from showing up at 6:30PM on the nose to put yourself on the waitlist or having bought your tickets in advance, you will not be disappointed. Complemented by some powerhouse performances, Horse in Motion's unorthodox locale--the century old Stimson-Green Mansion--makes seeing this production a wholly unique experience. Horse in Motion's transportive, intimate “Hamlet” makes those three hours go by all too quickly.
