Over forty of the UK's top touring theatre companies have today announced further details for Signal Fires, a collective touring initiative that will see new work staged UK-wide throughout October and November.

Samuel French has announced the winners of the 2020 Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival (OOB), the nation's premier short play competition. The six plays will be published and available for licensing by Samuel French in the 45th edition of its Off Off Broadway collection:

In a nod to the bygone days of radio plays, Casey Stangl created RADIO ROUND, a series of 10 short interlinked two-character plays written by 10 visionary writers, performed online by 10 all-star actors, in which one character from each play moves forward to the next play until it comes full circle. Thus, a character from the last play winds up meeting a character from the first, proving the whole of humanity is interconnected and absolutely greater than the sum of its parts. Samuel French's Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival (OOB) has announce that Dominique Morisseau (Skeleton Crew, Pipeline, Ain't Too Proud - The Life and Times of the Temptations) is this year's honorary festival playwright.

Six American playwrights have won a total of $150,000 as the 2020 winners of The New York Community Trust's Helen Merrill Award for Playwriting. The winners are Donnetta Lavinia Grays, Kimber Lee, Donja R. Love, Mona Mansour, Diana Oh, and Sung Rno.

Today, Monday 4th November 2019, Phoebe Eclair-Powell's play, SHED: EXPLODED VIEW, has been named the overall winner of the Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting during a ceremony at the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester. As well as receiving £16,000, Eclair-Powell will work with the Royal Exchange Theatre's creative team to develop the script.

La Jolla Playhouse announces the cast and creative team for its upcoming presentation of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival production of Cambodian Rock Band, by UC San Diego MFA Playwriting alumna Lauren Yee, directed by Chay Yew, featuring music by Dengue Fever. A co-production with Portland Center Stage at The Armory, Cambodian Rock Band will run November 12 a?"
