Obie Award winning Metropolitan Playhouse revives Icebound, the 1923 winner of the Pulitzer Prize in drama by Owen Davis. Directed by Artistic Director Alex Roe at Metropolitan Playhouse: 220 E 4th Street. Previews begin 9/19/14 with an official opening on 9/26/14. The run will end on 10/19/2014.

Since 2009, Broadway South Africa has conducted empowerment through the arts programming in disadvantaged communities throughout South Africa. The organization has raised close to $500,000, helping to improve the lives and future's of student's dramatically affected by poverty, violence, abuse, and HIV/AIDS.

The New Alternatives for Homeless LGBT Youth event will be hosted by Jené Hernandez (Conviction, Cash Flow, The L Word) and Frankie Faison (Banshee, The Wire, Coming to America) and music direction by Nate Buccieri.

Merrill and directed by Wojtunik, as his last production as Artistic Director. ALLEGRO, of which Theatermania says, Wojtunik brings 'to elegant life,' will extend a week at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 30-44 Crescent St (@30th Rd), in Astoria, Queens. began Thursday, May 1 and will now continue through Saturday, May 24. Opening Night was Saturday, May 3 (8 p.m.).

The show will cast it's attention on the women of the new off-Broadway smash, HEATHERS THE MUSICAL, beginning May 5.

Constellation's spell-binding production of Timberlake Wertenbaker's The Love of the Nightingale may have an old-fashioned name or two, but it is as timely a production as you will ever see. Director Allison Arkell Stockman understands that Greek mythology, like tragedy itself, is a canvas upon which we paint our darkest fears and ponder their meaning. The play paints a complex picture in which victims, bystanders and perpetrators compete for the audience's sympathy; and with Constellation's consistently strong performances, the journey is one of the most thought- provoking I have seen this season.

The band Fancy Reagan recently released a video and iTunes recording of the hit song 'Say Something'. Proceeds from the download benefit The Ali Forney Center for Homeless LGBT Youth. Award-winning composer Jeff Thomson made his debut at 54 Below with 'Go Where The Love Is' last week, January 20. The evening will highlight material from the upcoming musicals Pump Up the Volume, Trails, and Jawbreaker, as well as several yet-to-be-revealed projects. With the brilliant work of Constellation Theatre, Bill Irwin's irreverent spirit is alive and well in their current production of 'Scapin,' adapted from Moliere's Les Fourberies de Scapin ('Scapin's Tricks'). It's not one of those moldy old comedies where you try to laugh like your distinguished ancestors might have laughed back in the day-It works because the production rocks, but also because the original author Moliere stole some of the best material from his stage-mates in the Italian Commedia dell' Arte, who were standup before there was standup, and whose sight gags and stock characters laid the foundation for every sitcom you love today.
