The Old Globe today announced it will present the New Voices Festival, a weekend of readings of new American plays by both professional and aspiring playwrights, Dec. 13 - 15, 2013. The Festival will kick off Friday with an evening of 10-minute plays, directed by Katherine Harroff, that were written over the past year by community members who took part in The Old Globe Community Voices, a program dedicated to introducing adult residents of San Diego County to the process of creating their own theatrical work. The Festival weekend will also feature readings by professional playwrights, including Luce by JC Lee, directed by Shana Cooper; The Great Pretender by David West Read, directed by Richard Seer; and A Nice Indian Boy by Madhuri Shekar, directed by James Vasquez. Funded by a grant from The James Irvine Foundation, the New Voices Festival will take place in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Tickets to all four readings are free but require reservations. Reservations are currently available to donors and subscribers. Tickets can be reserved by calling the Box Office at (619) 23-GLOBE.

The Warriors' Duet, based on the work of Laura Jeanne Morefield, and written by Charlene Baldridge, will be directed by Anne Gehman and Katherine Harroff and choreographed by Anne Gehman in its presentation at The San Diego Fringe Festival. Performances will play The 10th Avenue Theatre Cabaret Space, beginning tonight, July 5th at 11am, July 6th at 12:30pm, and July 7th at 5:00pm.

THE WARRIORS' DUET is a celebration of love, life and language. While a mother searches for her missing daughter the story unfolds, enhanced by movement and music. Theirs was a fraught, competitive relationship. THE WARRIORS' DUET is the act they never performed, the book they didn't have time to write. Written by Charlene Baldridge, Directed by Anne Gehman, and Artistic Director, Katherine Harroff.

Circle Circle dot dot's latest all-original new work has officially opened! 'SAN DIEGO, I LOVE YOU' takes audiences on a romantic walking tour through the streets of the fabulous Hillcrest neighborhood in San Diego, and shows love can be found everywhere in many different forms. Circle Circle dot dot kicks off their official SECOND SEASON with, 'Street. Art. Prophets.' a collection of 5 short plays about artists who take to the streets to get their art seen. It was a full house on Opening Night and members of the community, family, & friends came out to show their support. Audiences enjoyed watching 5 WORLD PREMIERE plays and took to the 'Tag Wall' display in the lobby to voice their love of the show. Check out photos from the wall and the show below!

The Old Globe today announced the launch of The Old Globe Community Voices, a series of workshops dedicated to the creation and presentation of short plays by adult residents of San Diego County. Community Voices is the centerpiece of The Old Globe Residency Project, an artistic initiative offering three avenues of engagement for underserved communities. Funded by a two-year, $500,000 grant from The James Irvine Foundation, the Residency Project builds upon the Globe's earlier Southeastern San Diego Residency Project by expanding the definition of "community" to include groups defined by shared experience, geography, demographics, identity, profession or other characteristics. In addition to Community Voices, The Residency Project also provides free admission to Globe productions for underserved communities and paid internships for young adults.
