Daldry & Allen Workshop BRIDGET JONES Musical; Aiming for West End in 2011?

As BroadwayWorld has previously reported, the musical version of Helen Fielding's popular novel, 'Bridget Jones's Diary,' is in the works with aspirations to open in the West End. Fielding is working with British recording artist Lily Allen and Greg Kurstin on the musical's score and lyrics and is working on the book with assistance from Julian Webber. Stephen Daldry, the director of BILLY ELLIOT, directed the recent workshop alongside Webber and choreographer Peter Darling; Working Title is producing the project.

WICKED, London's 'hugely popular musical' (The Times) that tells the untold story of the Witches of Oz, has reached a major new Box Office milestone with an incredible gross to date of £100 million at the Apollo Victoria Theatre. The production has played over 1500 performances since its West End premiere in September 2006.

Fielding is working with British recording artist Lily Allen and Greg Kurstin on the musical's score and lyrics and is working on the book with assistance from Julian Webber. West End WICKED Producers Crack Down on Piracy

The New York Times reports today that the producers of WICKED in the West End are cracking down on piracy, threatening an indefinite ban from the show for anyone who illegally records the musical live. This announcement comes on the heels of one fan had recorded the entire musical from their seat and posted it on YouTube.
