Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST), Chicago Park District and The Boeing Company announced today plans to bring Shakespeare, FREE FOR ALL, to community parks across the City of Chicago this summer. From Portage Park to Humboldt Park and Austin to South Shore, this summer from July 29 to August 19, Chicago Shakespeare in the Parks will break down barriers to arts participation and give Chicagoans direct access to their City's cultural resources by bringing free Shakespeare performances into their neighborhoods.

'The Convert' opened last night, April 19 at the Kirk Douglas Theatre. The show, written by Danai Gurira and directed by Emily Mann in co-production with McCarter Theatre Center and the Goodman Theatre, is a world premiere production running through May 19. Danai Gurira, Wes Craven, Rutina Wesley, L. Scott Caldwell, Ntare Mwine, Glen Mazzara, Nyambi Nyambi, Deidrie Henry, Kristolyn Lloyd, Mia Barron, Edwina Findley, Lauren Cohan and more attended opening night. Check out the photos below!

On January 29, the Met Museum will host a Sunday at the Met program to discuss Africa's heritage: Join Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie in conversation with historian Joseph Miller and journalist Helene Cooper for an afternoon of conversation on the importance of oral narratives as a major source of literary inspiration and historical understanding of Africa's past. Moderated by Curator Alisa LaGamma.

Met Museum Reexamines Masterpieces of African Art in Relation to Historic Figures

An ambitious exhibition-sweeping in scope and challenging conventional perceptions of African art-opens September 21 at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Bringing together more than 100 masterpieces drawn from the premier collections in Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Portugal, France, and the United States, Heroic Africans: Legendary Leaders, Iconic Sculptures considers eight landmark sculptural traditions that flourished in West and Central Africa between the 12th and the early 20th century. These works were created by some of the regions' most gifted artists, who were charged with producing enduring visual monuments dedicated to the legacies of revered leaders.
