LAByrinth Theater Company announces the selections for their 19th Annual Barn Series, the award-winning company's developmental play reading series. This year's series features ten new plays written and directed by LAB company members. All readings are free and open to the public, and run from January 11-20, 2019 at Cherry Lane Theatre, where LAByrinth is the Company in Residence. Reservations will open to the public on January 2, 2019.

The Sol Project (Jacob G. Padron, Artistic Director), the national theater initiative dedicated to amplifying Latinx voices and building a body of work for the new American theater, is proud to announce that founding member and artistic producer David Mendizabal will become the Associate Artistic Director, beginning immediately. Rebecca Martinez and Julian Ramirez will also join the company as members of the artistic collective.

The Sol Project (Jacob G. Padron, Artistic Director), the groundbreaking theater initiative dedicated to amplifying Latinx voices and building a body of work for the new American theater, is proud to announce dates for SolFest: A Latinx Theater Festival, produced in partnership with Pregones/Puerto Rican Traveling Theater (Pregones/PRTT). The festival will run from June 25-27 at PRTT (304 West 47th Street, New York, NY 10036). Lead support for The Sol Project comes from the Howard Gilman Foundation.

LAByrinth Theater Company (Artistic Director John Ortiz) recently announced that they will present the World Premiere of Devil of Choice by LAB Member Maggie Bofill (Winners, Drawn and Quartered). They are thrilled for performances to begin Wednesday, May 23, and will run through Saturday, June 9, 2018, at The Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce Street, New York, NY 10014). After the premiere of the trailer during last night's SUPER BOWL LII, THE CLOVERFIELD PARADOX produced by J.J. Abrams is now available for streaming on Netflix. This is the third installment of the Cloverfield series, following CLOVERFIELD (2008) and 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE (2016).

The American Playwriting Foundation (David Bar Katz, Executive Director), established to make annual grants to new American plays, has selected Gracie Gardner for The 2017 Relentless Award, the largest annual cash prize in American theater awarded to a play. Established in honor of Philip Seymour Hoffman and his pursuit of truth in the theater, this year's Relentless Award Winner Pussy Sludge is about a young woman who is also an oil well.

Primitive Grace Theater Ensemble will present the World Premiere of DIVINE HORSEMEN written and directed by Obie Award winner and SAG Award nominee Paul Calderon (The Bad Lieutenant, Boardwalk Empire). Co-starring David Zayas (Dexter) and David Deblinger (Lucky Penny), previews begin January 10th at Access Theater. Opening is slated for Thursday, January 18th.

The Public Theater presents the New York premiere of the electrifying play, OEDIPUS EL REY in collaboration with The Sol Project as part of The Public's Astor Anniversary Season at their landmark downtown home on Lafayette Street, celebrating 50 years of new work at 425 Lafayette Street and the 50th Anniversary of HAIR. Written by Luis Alfaro and directed by Chay Yew, the show has been previously extended two weeks through Sunday, December 3, with an official press opening tonight, October 24.

Tony winner Judith Light (Broadway's The Assembled Parties & Other Desert Cities; TV's Transparent, Ugly Betty ) will join Roberta Colindrez (Fun Home; TV's I Love Dick ), Zachary Spicer (The Good Catholic), Carson Meyer (SPF-18; TV's Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors ), and John Ortiz (Kong: Skull Island; TV's Togetherness ) in the upcoming indie drama MS.
