Last night at the Waldorf-Astoria, Bette Midler hosted Hulaween 2010, her annual gala to benefit the New York Restoration Project. This year's event honored Senator John Kerry and featured a special performance by Paul Simon, a costume contest judged by Michael Kors and a live auction with Judy Gold.
New York Restoration Project (NYRP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to reclaiming and restoring New York City parks, community gardens and open space. In partnership with the City of New York, NYRP is also leading MillionTreesNYC - an initiative to plant and care for one million new trees throughout New York City's five boroughs by 2017. Rafael Nadal seeks his fifth French Open title that will get him closer to Bjorn Borg's open era record of six as NBC Sports presents live coverage of the French Open men's finals on Sunday beginning at 9 a.m. ET. Nadal, the tournament's No. 2 seed, whose last Grand Slam title came at the 2009 Australian Open, must first get by Jurgen Melzer of Austria in the semifinal round tomorrow (11 a.m. in all time zones on NBC). Melzer upset No. 3 seed Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals. On the women's side, No. 17 seed Francesca Schiavone of Italy takes on No. 7 seed Samantha Stosur of Australia each seeking her first Grand Slam title. Live coverage of the women's final begins Saturday at 9 a.m. ET.
