Leopoldstadt marks the 19th production of a Tom Stoppard play to open on Broadway since Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead opened 55 years ago. From Wednesday, May 2 through Sunday, May 20, BAMcinématek presents A Different Picture: Women Filmmakers in the New Hollywood Era, 1967—1980. A counter-narrative to the traditional macho mythology of the New Hollywood era, this series seeks to correct a historical wrong. As programmer Jesse Trussell explains, “This series is a redress to the established Easy Riders and Raging Bulls narratives; women from coast to coast radically altering film form, film subject and film power structures.” This series spotlights the prodigious work of female filmmakers in the United States from 1967—1980; films made both inside and outside of the Hollywood system and encompassing a wide array of genres from comedy to drama, art house to exploitation.

The 2018 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize has been awarded to U.K. playwright Alice Birch for her play "Anatomy of a Suicide". Now celebrating its 40th anniversary, the Prize is awarded annually to recognize women from around the world who have written works of outstanding quality for the English-speaking theatre. The Winner will receive $25,000 and a signed and numbered print by renowned artist Willem de Kooning.

The Susan Smith Blackburn Prize has announced 10 Finalists for its prestigious playwriting award, the oldest and largest prize awarded to women playwrights writing in the English language. Chosen from over 150 nominated plays, the Finalists are:

Dirty Dancing - The Classic Story On Stage officially opens a new production and North American tour at the Harris Center in Folsom, CA, tonight, October 5.

After three successful years on tour boasting numerous sold out engagements, this new adaptation of the worldwide smash-hit film, currently celebrating its 30th Anniversary, will continue to dazzle in more than 50 markets in North America, including the Lehigh Valley at The State Theatre on June 21 and June 22, 2018.

Dirty Dancing - The Classic Story On Stage will officially open a new production and North American tour at the Harris Center in Folsom, CA, October 5 - 7.

Tony Award winner Debra Monk attended the current rare revival of David Rabe's IN THE BOOM BOOM ROOM Thursday night Off-Broadway. She was accompanied by playwright/actor Michael Rabe (son of Mr. Rabe and Jill Clayburgh), with whom she starred in David Rabe's VISITING EDNA at Steppenwolf last fall.

Ruth Eckerd Hall presents Broadway's Dirty Dancing - The Classic Story On Stage on Friday, May 5 at 8 pm, Saturday, May 6 at 2 & 8 pm and Sunday, May 7 at 2 & 7 pm. Tickets are on sale now.

Broadway Across Canada announced today that individual tickets for the Winnipeg premiere of Dirty Dancing - The Classic Story On Stage will go on sale Monday December 12 at 10am.

Award-winning star of stage and screen Lucie Arnaz will bring An Intimate Evening with Lucie Arnaz to Feinstein's at the Nikko for two performances only - Today, September 16 (8 p.m.) and Saturday, September 17 (7 p.m.).
