ITSAZOO presents the bone-chilling, site-specific horror event Hidden, October 22 - November 13, 2016at UBC Botanical Garden. Inspired by slasher-era movies such as Friday the 13th and Halloween, Playwright and Co-Director Sebastien Archibald and award-winning Director Chelsea Haberlin will take participants on an experiential journey. Armed only with flashlights, intimate audiences of 13 people will tread deep into the forest to witness the grisly tale of the Lost Lovers Murder Tour.

Talk Is Free Theatre (TIFT) will convert downtown Barrie into the song & dance filled streets of River City, Iowa in its upcoming rendition of Meredith Willson's The Music Man, tonight, Sept. 14, to Oct. 2, 2016. During this revolutionary, immersive production, audiences will be whisked from one city site to the next to witness the witty & whimsical tale as its cast marches through town amongst unsuspecting Barrie. In 64 years since the famous film came out, the stage version of SINGIN' IN THE RAIN has never quite succeeded on The Great White Way, despite several attempts (a recent endeavor starring Derek Hough was postponed just last month). Nonetheless, Stolen Shakespeare Guild continues their tenth season with this well-known title. Although the musical's nostalgia does seem to charm audiences with its memorable score, ultimately, the magic and glamour of the film disappear in front of a live audience.

Sunday in the Park with George features the book by James Lapine and music and lyrics by Sondheim (whose works include masterpieces such as Sweeney Todd and Into the Woods). TIFT's production is directed by Steve Ross, a 12 year veteran of the Stratford Festival and a long-time actor TIFT actor, making his directing debut.

INTO THE WOODS is an ambitious undertaking for a community theater. The music is complex and the costumes and set are anything but minimalistic. HFAC's ambition is realized through this production directed by Sam Brown, and you can clearly see his heart and soul in a musical that rivals some professional productions around town.

According to an inside source, Stephen Brian Patterson has taken over as 'Captain Walker' in TOMMY at the Stratford Festival. Jeremy Kushnier left the role on August 4. Patterson joins Robert Markus and Paul Nolan in Des McAnuff's new Stratford Festival rock musical, The Who's Tommy, at the Avon Theatre in Ontario through October 19.
