ALL THE WAY's Bryan Cranston Wins Tony for Best Actor in a Play

Bryan Cranston won the 2014 Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play for ALL THE WAY. This is Bryan Cranston's first Tony nomination. Cranston began his acting career in local and regional theatres, getting his start at the Granada Theater in the San Fernando Valley. He is best known for portraying Walter White in Breaking Bad from 2008 to 2013, and Hal in Malcolm in the Middle from 2000 to 2006. He won four Emmy Awards and was nominated for five more.

All the Way, the new play by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Robert Schenkkan, starring BREAKING BAD's Bryan Cranston, is currently in previews on Broadway at the Neil Simon Theatre. The production officially opens on Thursday, March 6, 2014 for a strictly limited engagement. The play is directed by Bill Rauch, Artistic Director of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, where All the Way began its theatrical life. Jeff Dunham's beloved character Achmed the Dead Terrorist gets his own animated adventure when “Achmed Saves America,” created by and featuring the voice talents of Dunham, is released on Blu-ray and DVD on Tuesday, March 18. Released by Comedy Central Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment, the DVD will be available at Walmart and major retailers nationwide. The discs are currently available for pre-order on Amazon.com.

According to Deadline, HBO has given THE BRINK, starring Jack Black and Tim Robbins, a series order following its initial pilot. The 'epic dark comedy' will be directed by Jay Roach, with Jerry Weintraub serving as executive producer.

Deadline writes that Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston, who is currently starring onstage in A.R.T.'s ALL THE WAY in Cambridge, will lead the upcoming indie drama TRUMBO, based on the life of blacklisted writer Dalton Trumbo, directed by Jay Roach. Production is slated to kick off in 2014.

The winners of the Directors Guild of America Outstanding Directorial Achievement Awards for 2012 were announced tonight during the 65th Annual DGA Awards Dinner at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland in Los Angeles. Lena Dunham won the DGA's Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Comedy Series for Girls.
