Back on March 9, 2020, then incoming Artistic Director Matt Torney gathered some of Theatrical Outfita??s (TO) biggest supporters to reveal the plan for the 2020 - 2021 Season.

Mario Cantone will host this year's Lucille Lortel Awards, which are being presented as a virtual broadcast and benefit for The Actors Fund on Sunday, May 3, at 7pm. The online event will bring together theatre performers, industry veterans, and fans worldwide in a celebration of Off-Broadway.

Nominations for the 35th Annual Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway were announced today by theatre veterans Jeremy Jordan and Ashley Spencer. The Awards will be presented during a special online event on Sunday, May 3, broadcast on the official website - www.LortelAwards.org - beginning at 7:00pm ET. A virtual 'host' and presenters will be announced at a later date. As always, the Lortel Awards will be a benefit for The Actors Fund and fans are encouraged to make donations at actorsfund.org/Lortel. The Lucille Lortel Awards are produced by the Off-Broadway League and the Lucille Lortel Theatre Foundation. Additional support is provided by TDF.

Theater J Artistic Director Adam Immerwahr and Managing Director Jojo Ruf have announced Theater J's 30th anniversary season of five plays and two musicals. Rehearsals are underway for the Alliance Theatre's upcoming production of the Off-Broadway hit comedy and 2016 Critics' Pick SMALL MOUTH SOUNDS, by Drama Desk Award Winner Bess Wohl (Pretty Filthy). 

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Academy Award-winner Meryl Streep will narrate an upcoming audiobook of E.B. White's 'Charlotte's Web,' a book which hasn't been audio recorded since the author recorded it almost fifty years ago.

Due to popular demand and critical acclaim, Ars Nova extends the world premiere of Mrs. Murray's Menagerie to May 11. Directed by Lila Neugebauer, Mrs. Murray's Menagerie opened on kicks-off Ars Nova at Greenwich House and marks The Mad Ones' first production since their critically acclaimed play Miles For Mary. The production, created by The Mad Ones and Phillip James Brannon, Brad Heberlee, Carmen M. Herlihy and January LaVoy, opened on April 8.

The Audio Publishers Association (APA), the premiere trade organization of audiobooks and spoken word entertainment, announces today the winners of last night's annual awards gala, The Audie Awards. The event was hosted by Queer Eye fashion expert, upcoming memoirist and audiobook narrator, Tan France, who lent his charming personality and delightful wit to the evening's festivities. Portland Playhouse kicks off its 11th Season with Will Eno's Wakey, Wakey. Written during Eno's five year residency at New York's Signature Theatre Company, Wakey, Wakey asks What are we here for? Is time a friend or an enemy? Do we all eventually end up in the same place, but take different routes to get there? This funny, moving, and thought-provoking new play challenges the notion of what really matters and recognizes the importance of life's simple pleasures. (All of which might sound dreary, but there's a chance this will be a really good experience.)

The Cape Playhouse wraps up its 92 season with Clue: On Stage, a hilarious farce-meets-murder-mystery.  Directed by Hunter Foster, the production stars January LaVoy, Stephen DeRosa, Nancy Opel, and Brian J. Carter. A New England Premiere and pre National Tour Engagement Clue: On Stage runs August 21-September 1, 2018.

Casting is announced for WP Theater's second biennial Pipeline Festival, which begins performances today, Thursday March 29. The festival, which showcases the work of the celebrated WP Lab residency for playwrights, directors and producers, runs through April 28 at WP Theater (2162 Broadway & 76th Street).
