Victory Gardens Theater's IGNITION Festival Continues Through 8/12

Victory Gardens Theater Artistic Director Chay Yew and Executive Director Jan Kallish announce the new plays selected for the company's 2012 IGNITION Festival. The selected plays are: Seven Spots on the Sun by Martin Zimmerman; The Shotgun Message by A. Rey Pamatmat; Samsara by Lauren Yee; Appropriate by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins and Dr. Ali Goes Native by Yussef El Guindi. VG Playwrights Ensemble Member Marcus Gardley will join the selected group as a Playwright-in-Residence. Gardley will spend his time researching and drafting his upcoming play Chicago is Burning.
Victory Gardens' DIG DEEPER Events Coincide with OEDIPUS EL REY, 7/14-27

In association of its current production Oedipus El Rey, Victory Gardens announces the latest offerings from its DIG DEEPER series. DIG DEEPER are events that offer in-depth investigation of themes and ideas that are being explored in Oedipus El Rey, written by Luis Alfaro and directed by Artistic Director Chay Yew. Discussions about gang-affiliated youth, moderated by Luis Alfaro, will take place Saturday July 14 and 21; and Yo Solo, excerpts from two solo productions, will take place post-show on July 20 and 27, 2012.
