This evening, Suzi Bass Awards, Inc. revealed nominations for the 2014-2015 Atlanta professional theatrical season. The Suzi Nomination Party, which rotates venues, was hosted this year by Horizon Theatre. Guest announcers included the ladies of The Weird Sisters Theatre Project: Kelly Criss, Veronika Duerr, Jaclyn Hofmann, Tiffany Porter, and Megan Rose.

The Suzi Nomination Party, which rotates venues, was hosted this year by Horizon Theatre. Guest announcers included the ladies of The Weird Sisters Theatre Project: Kelly Criss, Veronika Duerr, Jaclyn Hofmann, Tiffany Porter, and Megan Rose. Aurora Theatre Academy's extensive array of Summer Camps for 2015 are right around the corner. Enrollment is now open for a coveted spot. Aurora Theatre Director of Education, Jaclyn Hofmann, has put together an incredible team of teaching professionals, most of whom you will recognize from professional theatrical productions around Atlanta or from the screen anywhere from Georgia Lottery commercials to HBO. This summer, Aurora Theatre Academy will prepare students of all skill levels to perform like professionals.  Located on the square in downtown Lawrenceville, all classes will culminate in a showcase in Aurora's exquisite facility. Aurora will also offer students both financial need and talent-based scholarship opportunities.

Aurora Theatre will host Free PLAY Day, a one-day FREE acting workshop as part of their community outreach through the Aurora Theatre Academy today, March 14 from 11:30 a.m.- 4 p.m.

Aurora Theatre will host Free PLAY Day, a one-day FREE acting workshop as part of their community outreach through the Aurora Theatre Academy on Saturday, March 14 from 11:30 a.m.- 4 p.m. During the day, students will be introduced to improvisation, team building and acting technique through various theatre games and exercises, as well as receive complimentary lunch generously provided by Aurora's Volunteer Guild. Free PLAY Day is open to students from kindergarten through 12th grade. In an effort to thank the community, Free PLAY Day is a way for both the theatre and artists to give back, especially to those who may not have access or means for experiences like this.

The Weird Sisters Theatre Project continue their 2014 summer season with Late: A Cowboy Song by Sarah Ruhl at Actor's Express theatre, July 21-August 5. The play is an early work of the award-winning playwright about perpetually late Mary, a woman who is desperately searching to find herself.

Aurora Theatre's 2013-2014 Harvel Lab Series continues with William Mastrosimone's Tamer of Horses running February 14 - March 2, 2014. Teen violence, education and the realization of one's own potential all take center stage in this poignant drama. Hector St. Vincent, a juvenile rapper on the run, takes up residence in an old barn owned by Ty & Georgiane Fletcher. A former teacher, Ty attempts to inspire and educate the teenager through an examination of Homer's The Iliad. But will he be rewarded for taking a chance on this troubled youth? The play features Aurora Theatre Producing Artistic Director Anthony P. Rodriguez and Maria Sager (The Book Club Play - Horizon Thaetre, Barrio Hollywood - Aurora Theatre) as the Fletchers and 2014 Aurora Apprentice Company member Dane Troy as Hector. The show will be performed in Aurora's intimate 86-seat Peach State Federal Credit Union Studio. The production reunites the creative duo from last season's hit 'Master Harold'...and the Boys with Jaclyn Hofmann directing and scenic design by Suzi Award-Winner Lee Maples.

Beloved children's book Dr. Seuss's The Cat in the Hat is Aurora Learning Library's winter show that will be performed weekday mornings as a field trip for over 7,000 elementary school students. Based on the high level of interest from teachers and parents, Aurora Theatre is adding two evening performances for families to enjoy this children's classic live on stage. On Tuesday, January 28 and Monday, February 10 at 6:00pm, families will have two chances to see the fully produced stage version of The Cat in the Hat, the play originally produced by the National Theatre of Great Britain. From the moment his tall, red-and-white-striped hat appears around the door, Sally and her brother know that The Cat in the Hat is the funniest, most mischievous cat they have ever met. With the trickiest of tricks and craziest of ideas, he is certainly fun to play with. And he turns a rainy afternoon into an amazing adventure. But what will Mom find when she gets home…?
