Governor and First Lady Patrick to Celebrate Berkshire Culture at MADE IN THE BERKSHIRES, 10/11-13

Governor Deval L. Patrick and First Lady Diane B. Patrick will serve as Honorary Chairs of the 2013 Made in the Berkshires festival. The 'locally grown' arts festival is held on Columbus Day Weekend, October 11-13 and features new works in drama, dance, music, film, readings, and visual art. Now in its third year, Made in the Berkshires presents artists, writers, and performers who share a common connection with the region.

CRT Announces Nominations for 2013 'Pavilion Awards'

Cortland Repertory Theatre has announced the nominees for their eleventh annual "Pavilion Awards" which recognize Outstanding Achievement in local high school theatre. For the seventh year, First Niagara Bank serves as the Corporate Sponsor for this program, which allows for many categories within the musical and non-musical genres. Musicals in consideration were held at the Cortland, Dryden, Groton, Homer, McGraw and Tully High Schools. Non-musical plays were also presented at Cortland, Homer and Tully. The nominees are as followings:

Mercer County Community College (MCCC) and Princeton Senior Resource Center (PSRC) invite the community to "Lights! Camera! Fashion!", a celebration of fashion, film and photography on Friday, May 10 at the MCCC Conference Center, 1200 Old Trenton Road, West Windsor, N.J. The festivities begin at 5:30 p.m., with a showing of the documentary "Bill Cunningham New York" at 7 p.m.

Artistic vision comes in all colors, shapes and sizes at the Mercer County Artists exhibit now on display at the Gallery at Mercer County Community College through April 4. One-hundred-seven works by 88 artists include paintings in oils, acrylics and watercolors, as well as sculptures and mixed media collages. As an antidote to all the young upstarts taking over the comedy scene, many of whom were not alive when comedy was proclaimed ‘the new rock n' roll', Dave's Leicester Comedy Festival has announced its annual search for the oldest stand up in the UK. Working together with the team at Silver Comedy, a specialist comedy training company working with older people, the festival is continuing its Silver Stand Up Competition as part of Dave's Leicester Comedy Festival 2013.

Berkshire Theatre Festival has announced additional casting for this summer's productions. The new cast members include Tony winners and nominees, multiple veterans of Broadway and Off Broadway as well as many returning BTF alumni. Husband and wife Stephen R. Buntrock and Erin Dilly will be working together on the world premiere of In the Mood. Jenny Powers and Angela Robinson have joined the cast of The Who's Tommy. Rachel Bay Jones of Broadway's Hair will take on the famed title character in Sylvia. Tony Winner Mia Dillon is joining Broadway and BTF alum C.J. Wilson and the previously announced Rebecca Brooksher in Tennessee Williams's serious comedy Period of Adjustment. Film actors Christian Coulson and Amari Cheatom will take on the world premiere two-hander Dutch Masters.

Dickens did an excellent job of making us worry about Ebeneezer Scrooge's redemption in A Christmas Carol, but why is it we never worry about the ghostly Jacob Marley? We rarely, if ever, give a thought to Marley's motive in returning from the grave to redeem his penury partner.

Peter Pan will return home for the first time in over 100 years when a new production of JM Barrie's 'PETER PAN', written by Tanya Ronder, will be performed this summer in a specially designed tent in Kensington Gardens. As JM Barrie wrote in 'Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens', 'Standing on the ledge he could see trees far away, which were doubtless the Kensington Gardens, and the moment he saw them he entirely forgot that he was now a little boy in a nightgown, and away he flew, right over the houses into the Gardens.'
