Announcing the world premiere of the Mount Auburn Plays, two series of site-specific plays created by Mount Auburn Cemetery's first Playwright Artist-in-Residence, Patrick Gabridge. Over the past two years Gabridge, an award-winning Boston playwright, has researched the stunning landscape and history of America's first garden Cemetery and 175-acre arboretum in the heart of Cambridge, MA, culminating in 10 brand new short plays to premiere as two sets of 5 unique plays each: The Nature Plays premiere June 1-9, 2019, highlighting the rich natural environment of Mount Auburn, and The America Plays premiere September 14-22, 2019, bringing to life just a few of the historic personalities resting eternally on the grounds and whose vision still resonate strongly in our American culture today. Each series will have 8 performances over the course of two weekends. Presented in partnership with Plays in Place.

The BAD BOY Comes Home to Strawbery Banke Museum, 3/31 - 4/9

Pontine Theatre presents its original staging of  The Story of a Bad Boy by Thomas Bailey Aldrich.  This classic story of a boy's adventures takes place in the semi-fictional town of Rivermouth (Portsmouth NH).  The production is underwritten by Optima Bank & Trust.  Performances take place  at Strawbery Banke Museum (14 Hancock Street) on Friday March 31 @7pm, Saturday April 1 & 8 @4pm, and Sunday April 2 & 9 @2pm. Tickets ($24) may be purchased online at www.pontine.org. Tickets may also be purchased at the door a half-hour prior to each show, based on availability.  With an innovative use of puppetry and projected images, Pontine Co-Artistic Directors, Greg Gathers and Marguerite Mathews, tell the autobiographical story of a lively boy and his companions in mid-19th century Portsmouth, where Aldrich was sent to live under the watchful eyes of his grandfather. Aldrich's boyhood home, now part of Strawbery Banke Museum, will be open to audience members following each performance.  

Fruitlands Museum Celebrates National Park Service with Photographs by Xiomaro

Having turned 100 years old, the National Park Service inaugurates its second century with a fine art photographic exhibit at Harvard's Fruitlands Museum titled 'Find Your Park: National Parks in New England,' which includes several large-scale photographs by New York artist Xiomaro. The group display is open now through March 19, 2017.

At this most beautiful season of the year, music connects us to feelings of hope and joy and an appreciation of the miraculous.  The Chorale translates those feelings into song accompanied by brass, percussion, and two of the mightiest organs in the Valley.  Continuing with our exploration of the music of Ireland and the British Isles, we sing many pieces steeped in this tradition.  Musical styles range from medieval to contemporary, offering lush melodies - familiar and new, with beautiful lyrics presented by a rich blend of 60 voices.

Actors Co-op (Ovation Award-Winner 2014 Best Intimate Theatre Musical for 110 in the Shade) presents the second show in its celebratory 25th Silver Anniversary season with the frightfully delightful THE TURN OF THE SCREW by Jeffrey Hatcher from the classic story by Henry James and directed by Robertson Dean (Antigone - A Noise Within).  THE TURN OF THE SCREW previewed on Wednesday, October 12 and Thursday, October 13 at 8pm and opened on Friday, October 14 at 8pm; it runs through Sunday, November 20 at the Actors Co-op Crossley Theatre, 1760 N. Gower St. (on the campus of the First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood) in Hollywood.
