Tony Award-winning actor Jason Alexander recently assumed the role of 'Norman Drexel' in Larry David's hit comedy Fish In the Dark, directed by Anna D. Shapiro, at the Cort Theatre (138 West 48th Street). Alexander steps into the role created by David in the comedy about a death in the family. The limited engagement run of the production, originally scheduled through June 7, is extended for six weeks through Saturday, August 1 at the Cort Theatre (138 West 48 Street). BROADWAY BARKS announces their 17th annual star-studded dog and cat adoption event to benefit New York City animal shelters and adoption agencies. Founded by Bernadette Peters and Mary Tyler Moore, this event features celebrities from the hottest shows on Broadway.  The event, produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, will take place on Saturday, July 11 in Shubert Alley (located between 44th and 45th Streets, between Broadway and Eighth Avenue). The festivities begin at 3:00 p.m. where you meet all the adoptable dogs and cats; celebrity presentations of adoptable pets will take place between 5:00-6:30 p.m. This year's event will be co-hosted by Bernadette Peters and Andrew Rannells (The Book of Mormon, HBO's 'Girls'). The event is free and open to the public.

Broadway's FISH IN THE DARK Sets Rush Policy

A $35 rush policy will be launched on Tuesday, June 9th when Tony Award-winning actor Jason Alexander assumes the role of Norman Drexel in Larry David's hit comedy Fish In the Dark, directed by Anna D. Shapiro, at the Cort Theatre (138 West 48th Street). A limited number of rush tickets will be available the day of the performance at the box office of the Cort Theatre. The $35 rush tickets will be limited to 2 per person and will be available when the box office opens.

The New Group has announced three productions for its 2015-2016 Season.  The company's new season kicks off in Summer 2015 with the Off-Broadway premiere of Philip Ridley's Mercury Fur, directed by Scott Elliott.  The season continues in Fall 2015 with the world premiere of Mark Gerrard's Steve, with director Cynthia Nixon returning to The New Group, where she made her directorial debut earlier this year.  In Winter 2016, Scott Elliott directs Sam Shepard's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Buried Child, featuring Ed Harris and Amy Madigan, who return to The New Group with this production.

Last night, actress Rita Wilson made her triumphant return to the hit Broadway comedy Fish In the Dark, following a one month of medical leave. In April, the actress revealed the news that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and had undergone a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. Now that she's cancer-free and back onstage, Wilson told the Times, 'It felt surreal in the sense that all these changes had happened, and yet it felt like it was yesterday.'

BroadwayWorld has just learned that Rita Wilson has temporarily stepped out of Broadway's FISH IN THE DARK for a temporary medical leave. In her absence, the role of 'Brenda' is being played by Glenne Headly. Wilson is set to return to the production on May 5, 2015.
