Amy Wright to Take Over as Director of Pearl Theatre Company's THE SUBJECT WAS ROSES, Opens 4/9

THE PEARL THEATRE COMPANY has announced that actress and director Amy Wright will direct the company's spring production, THE SUBJECT WAS ROSES. Ms. Wright replaces the previously announced Sheldon Patinkin, who has withdrawn from the production due to recovery and rehabilitation from recent surgery.

The LA Times has named its Faces to Watch in 2010 in theatre. The list can include up-and-coming actors, writers, directors, and plays or musicals that they expect to make an impact in the theatre world in the upcoming year. This year the list includes Brian Geraghty, who is set to star in the upcoming THE SUBJECT WAS ROSES, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, author of DOCTOR CERBERUS, and the upcoming Broadway musical SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK.

This year's recipient is Douglas J. Cohen, author of The Gig, which is based on a screenplay by Frank D. Gilroy.

Martin Sheen to Return to Stage in 'The Subject Was Roses' with Conroy & Geraghty at LA Music Center

Martin Sheen will return to the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play that brought him a Tony Award nomination in 1964, and join with Frances Conroy and Brian Geraghty in 'The Subject Was Roses' by Frank D. Gilroy, it was announced today by Center Theatre Group Artistic Director Michael Ritchie. 'The Subject Was Roses' replaces the previously announced 'Speed-the-Plow' by David Mamet as the first production in the Taper's 2010 season at the Los Angeles Music Center, February 10 through March 21, 2010. Opening is set for February 21.

The cast will include company members Steven Boyer (Bentley Summerhays), Robin Leslie Brown (Mrs. Tarleton), Michael Brusasco (Joey Percival), Bradford Cover (Johnny Tarleton), Dominic Cuskern (Lord Summerhays), Dan Daily (Mr. Tarleton), Sean McNall (Gunner), Erika Rolfsrud (Lina Szczepanowska), Lee Stark (Hypatia Tarleton). Performances for MISALLIANCE will begin December 4th with a scheduled opening of December 13th.
