In Grand Concourse, playwright Heidi Schreck has skillfully crafted a narrative about what it means to give back- not only in the sense of performing acts of charity but also in the sense of forgiveness. Now in its Chicago premiere at Steppenwolf Theatre Company, an accomplished cast of four actors brings to life Schreck's intriguing exploration of what it means to truly help others and the wearing effects that the striving towards selflessness can bring.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company celebrates 40 years as America's longest running, most distinguished ensemble theater with a remarkable lineup of plays in the 2015/16 Subscription Season, all by Pulitzer Prize-winning writers. Kicking off the landmark season is John Steinbeck's East of Eden, a world premiere adaptation by Frank Galati. Steppenwolf's deep connection with the Pulitzer Prize-winning author can be traced back to the company's 1988 production of The Grapes of Wrath, which Galati adapted and directed. The production transferred to Broadway, California and London and received two Tony Awards-Best Play and Best Director-garnering Steppenwolf international acclaim.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company announced today the extension of The Herd, the debut play of Olivier Award-winning actor Rory Kinnear currently playing to critical acclaim in its U.S. premiere production in Steppenwolf's Downstairs Theatre. In a four-star review, the Chicago Tribune raves, 'A family drama that sticks with you...this is Steppenwolf acting at its best' and The New York Times says, 'a buoyantly entertaining play [that] breathes with real, complicated life.' Directed by ensemble member and Tony Award-winning director Frank Galati, The Herd adds six additional performances, extending the run through June 14, 2015 with the original cast.
