The leading ladies of North Carolina Theatre's Production of 9 to 5 will include Ashley Blanchet (Frozen, Beautiful, Annie, and Memphis on Broadway) as Judy, Lauren Kennedy (Spamalot, Les Misérables, Side Show, and Sunset Boulevard on Broadway) as Violet, and Ryah Nixon (9 TO 5: The Musical National Tour) as Doralee.

North Carolina Theatre has announced the cast and creative team for Songs for a New World by Tony Award-winner Jason Robert Brown, directed by Eric Woodall. Songs for a New World is North Carolina Theatre's first production since the COVID-19 pandemic forced a global hiatus on in-person gatherings in March of 2020.

North Carolina Theatre has announced changes to its upcoming 2021-22 Season. North Carolina Theatre will begin its upcoming season in July with Jason Robert Brown’s musical, Songs for a New World. This will replace Broadway Connection. On Your Feet! The Story of Emilio and Gloria Estefan will now move to the end of the season in August 2022.

North Carolina Theatre has announced its continued collaboration with the PNC Foundation and PNC's recent $35,000 grant, which will support the theatre's diversity and inclusion efforts. All In presented by PNC is the theatre's audience-development initiative designed to foster diversity and inclusion by delivering programming, partnerships, and enrichment opportunities. The PNC Foundation's support of All In will help NC Theatre organize community conversations, innovative virtual programming, educational opportunities and more, while supporting programmatic and artistic choices, in 2020-21.
