This holiday season, freeFall Theatre Company is staging a story that has warmed the hearts of children and adults since the 1940's: Antoine de Saint-Exup ry's classic The Little Prince. This delightful adaptation by Rick Cummins and John Scoullar runs for thirty-three performances from November 24 through December 24.

After suffering devastating damage in Hurricane Irma, freeFall Theatre's campaign to raise the funds necessary for recovery and reconstruction has received almost $275,000 in six weeks. Donations from nearly 700 donors, successfully met the $100,000 matching gift challenge made by local philanthropists Kate Tiedemann and Ellen Cotton.

Village Theatre is proud to present what's sure to be one of the most spectacular dance shows in its history, Disney's Newsies. This high-energy musical combines Broadway-caliber entertainment with the story and tunes from the beloved cult-classic movie. Based on the Newsboys Strike of 1899, the narrative follows Jack Kelly and his crew of ragtag newsboys who become unlikely heroes when they stand up for what's right.

Presented by Center Theatre Group, 'Bright Star' will open at the Ahmanson Theatre on Friday, October 20. The Tony Award-nominated Best Musical, with music, lyrics and story by Grammy, Emmy and Oscar winner Steve Martin and Grammy winner Edie Brickell, is currently in previews and is directed by Tony Award winner Walter Bobbie and choreographed by Josh Rhodes. From October 31 to November 5 at Centaur Theatre, Imago Theatre will present Her Side of the Story:Revision to Resist, a festival of performances, encounters and exchange around women who revision known narratives to reclaim Her Side of the Story from the footnotes.

San Francisco Opera announces educational events in connection with John Adams' Girls of the Golden West, which receives its world premiere at the War Memorial Opera House on November 21. With a libretto drawn from historical sources by director Peter Sellars, this new work from the composer of Nixon in China and Doctor Atomic explores the true and often brutal stories of pioneers on California's Gold Rush frontier.

freeFall's 2017/18 season begins with an all-new adaptation of White Fang, written and directed by Jethro Compton. Based in the UK, Compton and his production company are well known for creating bold, narrative driven theatrical experiences that often present highly cinematic re-imaginings of classic stories for the stage.  freeFall Theatre Company and Jethro Compton Productions are co-producing this new vision of a literary classic right here in St. Petersburg. Local audiences will be the first to experience this world premiere before it heads to London for a run at The Park Theatre in December 2017.

With one week left until The 17th Annual Festival of New Musicals, Village Theatre is excited to announce the casting for Nikola Tesla Drops the Beat, an electronic pop musical about one of the world's greatest inventors; Hart Island, a look at social justice and the people society has forgotten; Afterwords, a tale of art and love; Howl's Moving Castle, based on the novel by Diana Wynne Jones; and ZM, a hilarious romp through a zombie-filled future by the Tony Award-winning authors of Urinetown. Taking place in Issaquah on August 11-13, 2017, The Festival of New Musicals provides an essential platform for writers to incorporate a key component of live theatre - the audience. Each new musical will be rehearsed during the week, then present to the audience in staged reading format, performed in full using scripts.

Freefall Theatre Company, one of Tampa Bay's most celebrated professional theaters, continues to grow with the addition of two new staff members. These new team members join freeFall's current staff led by Artistic Director Eric Davis and Executive Director Cheryl Forchilli. freeFall Theatre was founded in 2008 and established its permanent home at 6099 Central Avenue in 2011.

Join freeFall on June 17 at 8pm  for a reading of a brand new musical by Barry Harman (The Carol Burnett Show, Romance/Romance, Olympus On My Mind) and Grant Sturiale (Olympus On My Mind) based on the film of the same name. This premiere work will be directed by freeFall Artistic Director Eric Davis.
