Yesterday afternoon, the cast of SPIDER-MAN TURN OFF THE DARK headlined the Brooklyn Public Library's Summer Reading Kickoff event. DAt teh event, Reeve Carney and Rebecca Faulkenberry performed “If The World Should End,' followed by “Rise Above” with Jennifer Sanchez. The day also featured Spidey face-painting, coloring, and temporary tattoos. Check out a look at the performances below!
SPIDER-MAN Brings Back 'Tony Sunday;' All 'Tonys' to Receive Free Ticket, 6/9

After attracting a record number of 'Tonys' last year, SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark will, once again, hold a special performance celebrating 'Tony Sunday' at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 9. Like last year, anyone named Tony (or any variation thereof, including Anthony, Antoinette, Toni, Antonio, or Antonia) will be eligible to receive a complimentary pair of tickets to the special performance. This year, SPIDER-MAN will also be offering free tickets to any past Tony Award-winners. People named 'Tony' need to bring state-issued photo ID. Tony-winners need to bring their Tony Award.

Thousands of Times Square pedestrians will join cast members of Broadway's favorite shows, along with CBS RADIO New York personalities and sponsors, for "Broadway Rocks Times Square for St. Mary's Kids," a free concert presented by CBS RADIO New York in Father Duffy Square (Broadway & 47th Street) on Sunday, June 2nd from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM.

This past weekend, SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark hosted a special Mother's Day themed Everyday Hero, this time honoring Cathy Fritea, a mother who lost her first-born son. Out of her grief, she started the Angels Fund charity, which helps comfort grieving parents who have lost a child. Isabel Keating, who plays Aunt May, made a curtain call speech and invited Cathy on stage. Check out photos of Cathy with the cast below!

Julie Taymor Gets Better Billing as a Result of SPIDER-MAN Lawsuit

According to the New York Times, Julie Taymor came out of her lawsuit against the producers of SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK with better billing. As of March 2011, when Taymor was officially fired as director of the musical, Taymor was credited on the show playbill with 'Original Direction By' just under Philip Wm. McKinley, who was credited as director. Now as per terms in the settlement, Taymor is listed as director above McKinley, who's credit has been changed to 'additional direction by.'

Eiko Ishioka, costume designer for SPIDER-MAN, is nominated for a 2013 Academy Award for her costume designs for Mirror, Mirror. Ishioka passed away last year after losing a battle with pancreatic cancer on January 21 in Tokyo. She was 73 years old. It features music and lyrics by 22-time Grammy Award-winners Bono and The Edge, direction by Philip William McKinley (The Boy From Oz), and a book co-written by Julie Taymor, Glen Berger(Underneath The Lintel) and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Fantastic Four and Spider-Man comics, 'Big Love'). Peter Parker died in the 700th and final issue of 'The Amazing Spider-Man,' and in the video below, the cast tributes the character along with a slew of other stars. Check it out below!
