David Sedaris, the New York Times best selling author and National Public Radio humorist, returns to Hennepin Theatre Trust's State Theatre on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. With sardonic wit and incisive social critiques, he has become one of America's pre-eminent humor writers and has more than seven million copies of his books in print. Immediately following his talk, he will participate in a book signing.
Berkeley Rep Receives AMERICAN EXPRESS Grant For Fellowship

Today Berkeley Repertory Theatre announced that 16 emerging leaders from across the nation - including six Northern California natives - have been awarded fellowships for the upcoming season. This year's fellowships will be supported by a generous $50,000 grant from American Express, complementing a similar gift received earlier from the Koret Foundation.

Motherhood Out Loud, a new American play, conceived by Susan R. Rose and Joan Stein, produced by Ms. Rose, Ms. Stein, Renee Landegger and Judith Resnick, directed by Lisa Peterson, and written by more than 15 writers, will have a special work-in-progress, 3-performance engagement as part of Bay Street Theatre's 2009 'Bay Street at the Parrish' season. Motherhood Out Loud plays July 30 - August 1 at the Parrish Art Museum in Southampton, NY.

Brooks McNamara, Shubert Archives Director and Theater Historian Dead at 72

The new York Times reports that Brooks McNamara passed away on May 8, 2009 at the age of 72. He was most well known and regarded for his role as the founding director of the Shubert Archives. The immediate cause was pneumonia, said his wife in a statement to the Times, Nan. Mr. McNamara had been suffering from sporadic cerebellar ataxia, a degenerative nerve disorder.
