Goldman-Produced 'Judge Karen's Court' Premieres 9/20

Rich Goldman has been named Executive Producer of JUDGE KAREN'S COURT, the new court series from Litton Entertainment premiering September 20. Goldman's long-standing working relationship with Judge Karen Mills-Francis as Executive Producer of the previous Judge Karen series will enable him to bring out the best in her feisty and fun personality. Dave Morgan, President and CEO of Litton, is also Executive Producer of the new series, which will be shot in Los Angeles.

Different Stages runs Agatha Christie's SPIDER'S WEB through July 24th. The production opened on July 2nd and is being performed at the Vortex on 2307 Manor Road. Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 7 p.m. There is an added performance on Wednesday, July 21 at 8 p.m. Tickets are Pick your Price: $15, $20, $25, and $30.

Different Stages continues its 2009-2010 season with Agatha Christie's Spider's Web. Clarissa, the wife of a Foreign Office diplomat, is given to daydreaming. 'Supposing I were to come down one morning and find a dead body in the library'? Clarissa has her chance to find out when she discovers a body in the drawing room of her house. It becomes necessary to dispose of the body before her husband comes home with an important foreign politician, so Clarissa persuades her three houseguests to become accessories and accomplices. It seems that the murdered man was not unknown to certain members of the house party (but which ones?), and the search begins for the murderer and the motive, while at the same time trying to persuade a police inspector that there has been no murder at all...

The Samuel French, Inc. Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival announces the 40 semi-finalists for its 35th annual season. Chosen from hundreds of submissions by playwriting workshops, university theatre programs, and professional companies both in the U.S. and abroad, these 40 plays will be presented July 13th - 18th at the Lion Theatre in Theatre Row (410 W. 42nd Street). Out of these plays, six finalists will be chosen by the Samuel French, Inc. editorial staff to receive publication and licensing contracts.

The Alliance Theatre will present two days of readings from the finalists of the Kendeda Graduate Playwriting Awards. The readings, taking place February 1st and 2nd, will feature two plays a day and will be free to the public. The event will feature plays by Virginia Grise, Paul David Young, Emily Schwend, and Dana Lynn Formby.
