The Second City Announces 50th Anniversary Schedule

To celebrate The Second City's 50th Anniversary, the legendary comedy theatre will host a weekend of performances, panel discussions and screenings at its intimate theatres on Wells Street and in The Piper's Alley Complex in Chicago on Friday, December 11th through Sunday, December 13th. Long before New York had a Fringe Festival, New York had the Ensemble Studio Theatre's OCTOBERFEST, a marathon of new, old and developing plays crammed together on two floors of the theatre company's home at 549 West 52nd Street. The first OCTOBERFEST was in 1981.

Off-Broadway's The Play Company brought together some of NYC's top chefs and theater artists for its sixth annual gala CABARET GOURMET 2009 -- a unique evening hosted by Broadway's Richard Kind ('The Tales of the Allergist's Wife' and 'The Producers') and featuring musical entertainment by cabaret legend Karen Akers ('Nine' and 'Grand Hotel'), along with savory and sweet dishes prepared by chefs from several of the city's most celebrated restaurants -- on Monday, April 27 at the American Airlines Theatre Penthouse (227 West 42nd Street) in Manhattan.

Second Stage Theatre celebrated its annual All-Star Bowling Classic on Monday, February 2nd Lucky Strike Lanes and Lounge. For over 21 years, stars of stage and screen have come out to bowl in support of Second Stage's award-winning seasons and to assist the theatre in its fund-raising efforts. Glasgow Film Festival To Open With Gandolfini's IN THE LOOP

Now in its fifth year, the annual Glasgow Film Festival brings together cinema from around the world, past and present, old and new talent.
GFF09 will, as before, be hosting an eclectic range of blockbusters, independents, documentaries, shorts and artists films. Many of these films will be screening for the first time, many may never be screened again, so there is no better time to catch them. We'll also be bringing you great guests, exciting events and much more...
James Gandolfini Steve Coogan, David Rasche and Anna Chlumsky will star in the political satire 'In the Loop,' which will open the festival. The film is a satire of the inner workings of British and American government.
GFF09 is proud to announce a retrospective of silver screen legend, Audrey Hepburn. This beloved and enduringly popular icon will be represented with screenings of her classic films, all testament to her talent, style, grace and beauty.
TO BE OR NOT TO BE Plays Final Performance 11/16

It has been announced that MTC's production of TO BE OR NOT TO BE will play its final performance on November 16th, 2008. November 16th, 2008 is the end of Manhattan Theater Club's subscription run. They had previously been offering tickets through November 23rd, 2008, but will now be canceling that week of performances. Patrons who have purchased tickets for performances through November 23rd, 2008 should return to their point of purchase for a refund.

The series begins its third season on Saturday, September 20 following the matinee performance of TO BE OR NOT TO BE with J. Hoberman, film critic for The Village Voice, and Foster Hirsch, professor of film at Brooklyn College. Golden Globe winner Christine Lahti will assume the role of Avis, and Tony Award-winner Michael Cristofer will assume the role of Moss.
