The Tony Award-winning musical Avenue Q, currently playing off-Broadway at New World Stages, celebrated its 10th anniversary yesterday, July 31. Prior to curtain, Media and Entertainment Commissioner Katherine Oliver presented a proclamation from the City of New York to the musical's cast, creators and producers declaring July 31 as AVENUE Q DAY. AVENUE Q is the Tony Award-winning musical about 20-somethings -- people and puppets alike -- fresh out of college and trying to find their way in the big city, living as neighbors on a rundown street in an outerborough of NYC. This tribute to Michael Jackson featured Jackson's famous hits as performed by the Rockers Anonymous band, Stirfry Massacre, and also featured the best up and coming rock and pop talent from the New York Musical Theatre scene. The New York Musical Theatre Festival and J&B Productions present the musical Jane Austen'S PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, a musical - a story of 'First Impressions' and second chances - with music, lyrics and book by Lindsay Warren Baker and Amanda Jacobs, directed by Igor Goldin ('YANK!'), and starring, in the title role of Jane Austen, Donna Lynne Champlin ('Sweeney Todd,' 'Billy Elliot').
