Betrayed by authorities and forced to survive no matter the cost, ONAJE opens in the 1980s with an explosive encounter that threatens to uncover long-buried secrets from a desperate past. Written by Robert Bowie, Jr., directed by Pat Golden, and produced by Susan Conover Marinello, ONAJE will run for five performances, October 13 - 21, in New York City.

Based on Emile Ardolino's 1992 film of the same name, Sister Act follows disco diva Deloris Van Cartier as she is put in protective custody after witnessing a murder. Not only that, but she is hidden in the one place that the cops are sure she won't be found, a convent. While struggling through the restrictions of her new lifestyle, Deloris uses her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir, but in doing so, she jeopardizes her cover.

It's 1977 and Deloris Van Cartier is an aspiring singer in funky Philadelphia. After auditioning for her gangster boyfriend, Curtis' nightclub, she accidentally sees him kill one of his cronies. Deloris runs to the police, who place her in hiding until she can testify at Curtis' trial. But where can you hide a larger-than-life diva? Police officer and old friend of Deloris, Eddie Southers, finds the one place he's sure no one will look; a convent!

Musical comedy and summer go together - especially in a town like Wichita when the 'feels like' temperature is 101 with 70% humidity! It was absolutely blissful to slide into a comfy seat at the well air conditioned Century II Concert Hall to watch Music Theatre Wichita's season opener, Sister Act. Curtain is at 8pm, but I like to get there by 7:30pm to hear Wayne Bryan, MTW's Producing Artistic Director, share his dramaturgical insights on the production, and also to watch the Teen Choir perform a few musical numbers relevant to the current show.

For a really, enjoyable evening, don't miss New Theatre Restaurant's musicalized version of the 1992 film comedy 'Sister Act' with a great score by Alan Menken and Glen Slater.  Here is a show with a cast that features absolutely NO WEAK SISTERS. Seldom does an audience get to sit back and simply smile.  You know what is coming and it is still fun. 

I never saw Sister Act, the Musical when it was on Broadway, but now this is my second Westchester go round with this musical. It certainly makes sense for Westchester Broadway Theatre especially to mount it since it gives a unified group of nuns the chance to belt and let their habits down to a 60's themed score.

Raven Theatre is pleased to announce the cast and creative team for its world premiere of Philip Dawkins' provocative drama THE GENTLEMAN CALLER, directed by Artistic Director Cody Estle.

'Get thee to a nunnery' now has a whole new meaning after seeing Sister Act at the ASB Waterfront Theatre on Saturday night. The audience loved it, their energetic clapping and 'wa-hoos' said it all, with most jumping to their feet during the final number.

Broadway actor Kingsley Leggs, who originated the roles of Mister in The Color Purple and Curtis Jackson in Sister Act, joined the cast of Hadestown for the new production at Citadel Theatre. Leggs plays Hermes, the liaison between the mortal world and the afterlife, in the Canadian Premiere of the most anticipated show of the season. The 67th Music Circus season continues with the feel-good musical comedy Sister Act, featuring an infectious score by Tony and Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken. Based on the hit 1992 film, this musical will fill the round stage with saintly sisters for the first time in Music Circus history. Performances of Sister Act are Tuesday, August 22 through Sunday, August 27 at the Wells Fargo Pavilion.

Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre continues its 45th season with Sister Act, a feel-good comedy based on the Touchstone Pictures motion picture starring Whoopi Goldberg. The musical comedy runs from July 21 through Aug. 6 in the F. Scott Black Theatre at the Robert and Eleanor Romadka College Center at CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Boulevard in Rosedale.
