A Contemporary Theatre serves up plenty of new works in the month of July, starting with the continuation of the very sexy, 'very now' World Premiere of Pilgrims Musa and Sheri in the New World by acclaimed local playwright Yussef El Guindi, followed by scorching performances produced from The Central Heating Lab: Pinter Fortnightly, featuring a first for Seattle audiences - a reading of Grace by Doug Lucie; the return of The Love Markets with Summer Nacht; and the debut of REPRESENT!

Seattle Shakespeare Company continues their 20th Anniversary season with one of Shakespeare's last and seldom produced plays, "Cymbeline". And while one can see why this play is not so often dusted off, the Chamber production the company has put forth has some wonderful moments and performances.

The votes are in, the ballots tallied and the people have spoken. Yes, the 2010 BroadwayWorld Seattle Theater awards results are in and my oh my was it a nail biter. There was some fierce competition out there but the voters have spoken. But since the results were so close, we're going to put in not only the winners but also the 1st and 2nd runners up as well. And I'm also going to throw in my own Critic's Choice for the hell of it. So without further ado, the envelopes please...

Seattle Shakespeare Company continues their 20th Anniversary season with one of Shakespeare's last and seldom produced plays, "Cymbeline". And while one can see why this play is not so often dusted off, the Chamber production the company has put forth has some wonderful moments and performances.

Seattle Shakespeare Company is currently coupling their powerhouse production of "Hamlet" with an amusing look into Hamlet's college days with "Wittenberg" by David Davalos. And while it may not pack the punch of the main event it is a smart and funny view into the formation of the attitudes of the young prince.

Two Hamlets on the stage at the same time? Well...almost. In addition to their production of Shakespeare's Hamlet, Seattle Shakespeare Company is presenting a contemporary comedy about Hamlet's college days - Wittenberg. Both Hamlet and Wittenberg will run in repertory at the Center House Theatre with several opportunities to see both plays on the same day.

After more than 30 years of working in the theatre, the Paulsen theatre family (actors Larry and Jeanne Paulsen and lighting designer Rick Paulsen) collaborate all together for the first time in their hometown for Seattle Shakespeare Company's production of Chamber Cymbeline.

Book-It Repertory Theatre is presenting the second half of their outstanding rendition of John Irving's classic novel with "The Cider House Rules, Part Two: In Other Parts of the World". And it's no surprise that this production is just as stellar as its predecessor and perhaps even more so.

Book-It Repertory Theatre finishes off their 20th anniversary season by revisiting one of their earlier works, "The Cider House Rules, Part One: Here in St. Clouds" based on the novel by John Irving. And while only half of the story is represented here, the show is a fully realized and wondrous piece of theater.

The Cider House Rules has a special place in Book-It's history as the first full-length novel adapted in the Book-It StyleTM, and as a turning-point undertaking that helped the once fledgling company establish itself firmly in the Seattle theatre community. Seattle Shakes is currently presenting one of William Shakespeare's more lighthearted ventures, the fun and goofy "Two Gentlemen of Verona". And while Shakespeare's comedies don't always broaden one's horizons (culturally speaking) you're sure to have a totally awesome time with this one, dude.
