Theatre By The Sea's WEST SIDE STORY Begins This Month

Bill Hanney's award winning Theatre By The Sea (TBTS) presents the beloved musical classic, WEST SIDE STORY. Shakespeare's immortal 'Romeo & Juliet' is transported to 20th century New York City, where two idealistic young lovers, with only their love in common, find themselves caught between warring street gangs and clashing cultures. WEST SIDE STORY runs from Wednesday, June 22 thru Saturday, July 16, 2016.

Canadian Stage's 2015/2016 season comes to a close with the world premiere of two plays by acclaimed Governor General's Award-winning playwright Jordan Tannahill. The work is a collaboration with Canadian Stage and the Department of Theatre at York University which presents a bold double bill that combines a vivacious take on Renaissance art history and a gripping adaptation of a biblical tale. BOTTICELLI IN THE FIRE & SUNDAY IN SODOM are directed by Matjash Mrozewki and Estelle Shook respectively, both 2015 graduates of York University's MFA Program in Theatre - Stage Direction in Collaboration with Canadian Stage. Starring Salvatore Antonio, Valerie Buhagiar, Nicola Correia-Damude, Stephen Jackman-Torkoff, Christopher Morris and Alon Nashman, the double bill is an outstanding showcase of a bright theatrical vision brought to life with an outstanding creative team.

There is so much about the heartwarming nature complete with a simple lesson learned and the sheer magic involved in making that happen that have brought many to profess their love of The Wizard of Oz, which is, in essence, a wonderful story that tugs at the heartstrings ever so slightly. From an adult who grew up watching the well-known 1939 movie starring Judy Garland to a child who may have read L. Frank Baum's book about the strange adventures of one Dorothy Gale and her "little dog" Toto in their quest to find their way back to Kansas, the pure innocence of this tale creates a world that generations have found (and continue to find) fascinating.
