BWW Review: ESCAPE TO MARGARITAVILLE at Dr. Phillips Center Is Far from Paradise
by Aaron Wallace - Nov 14, 2019

I would never drink on the job, but at ESCAPE TO MARGARITAVILLE, a?oepour me something tall and stronga?? is part of the mandate a?" and the show writers are clearly counting on tequila to carry them through. Margaritaville is an island getaway where the drinks are strong, Jimmy Buffett is god, and every single inhabitant has exactly one personality trait. It's definitely the cheeseburger version of paradise...

Hale Center Theater Orem Will Produce XANADU: A Chris Clark ALS Benefit
by Stephi Wild - Sep 24, 2019

a?oeA special benefit performance for our beloved friend, husband, father, director, and lip-sync enthusiast, Chris Clark. Chris has been thriving with ALS for over 3 years. And even though we all warmed up from the Ice Bucket Challenge years ago, ALS remains a terminal disease, and still has no known treatment. There are very smart doctors worldwide who are working on a cure, but for anyone living with ALS, the focus is on treating symptoms, and adapting lifestyles. Which is EXPENSIVE! And that is why we have decided to re-remount one of Chris' favorite shows that he directed: XANADU! Only this time we are raising money to support people in the Utah community who have been diagnosed with ALS. There are SO MANY things that are needed for anyone with this disease. ALS can start anywhere in your body, legs, neck, etc., and as it progresses ALS REQUIRES that you adapt like acquire a cane, and then a walker, and then a wheelchair, and then a shower seat, and then, and then, and then...the list goes on and on. And for those who have no family or friends to help them through, or money, things are even harder, so by the fires of Hephaestus we are gonna help!a??

BWW Review: THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME - Texas State Rings In Masterpiece
by Lynn Beaver - May 2, 2019

With the Notre Dame Cathedral still in the news after a nearly catastrophic fire so recently it seemed strange coincidence to attend a production of THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME. It certainly brought home for me the majesty of the medieval church but it also lent a small glimpse into the immense scope of Hugo's work. Kaitlin Hopkins takes the medieval setting and recreates it in a high concept artwork in black, white, tones of gray and slashes of crimson. The effect is a feast for the senses.
