During her musically spectacular performance at 54 Below last night Ann playfully introduces her pianist as George Gershwin. Ted Rosenthal may probably be able to play Gershwin's music with more accuracy than the composer did. However, I'm sure George Gershwin would never be able to accompany Ann as good as Ted Rosenthal does.

Regina Gil founder, and Caroline Sorokoff Director, had a surprise for Film Festival patrons last night. Hugh Grant one of the most well known actors in the world decided to check out the Gold Coast International Film Festival, which is in it's fourth year successful year. Needless to say, the seats were filled at the Soundveiw Cinema in Port Washington as this international movie star and producer shared his views on many topics.

The Gold Coast International Film Festival began its seven-day run on Nov. 3rd. It will feature more than 40 short films, art films foreign films and appearances by filmmakers. In just its fourth year, the festival has grown so large and so popular that it will need theaters in Great Neck, Manhasset, Roslyn and Port Washington to accommodate all of the screenings and doings.

It was fitting that the World Premiere of "A Voice Among the Silent" was held in the only United States synagogue to be honored with a papal visit in 2008, when Pope Benedict XVI was hosted by the the congregation and Rabbi Arthur Schneier. This eye opening documentary about James McDonald, the son of Catholic immigrants, was almost lost to history until his meticulously kept diaries were discovered in 2003.

Caroline Sorokoff, Director of the Gold Coast International Film Festival announced today that 'A Voice Among the Silent: The Legacy of James G. McDonald,' a new documentary by Shuli Eshel about James G. McDonald, a U.S. diplomat who helped rescue Jewish refugees from the Nazis, will have its world premiere in New York with two showings on October 19th and 20th, 2014.

The Ed Sullivan, Steve Allen, & Hollywood Palace shows have disappeared from the TV schedule years ago. Television audiences were always tremendously entertained watching an engaging host, presenting a separate and diverse group of performers in these musical, fun filled hours. Jamie deRoy performer/host has been delighting cabaret audiences for the past 21 years with these type of variety shows. Her special birthday celebration show at the Metropolitan Room included a mixture of talented troupers who rose to the task of entertaining Jamie's Broadway Producer and industry friends in the celebratory audience.
