THE MEETING* to Return to Joe's Pub with Tributes to Amy Winehouse, Julie Andrews & More

The Meeting* hosted by Justin Sayre, the acclaimed comedy/variety show, will return to JOE'S PUB at The Public Theater in September 2014 for the launch of its landmark 6th season. The Meeting* has been called "delicious and delightfully droll" by The New York Post, and "hilarious and sardonic" by The Village Voice. A recent story for Slate.com called the evening "so deliciously icy that it left me shivering with fear and delight." The Fall 2014 season feature tributes to the beloved soul diva Amy Winehouse (September 14), Broadway and Hollywood star Julie Andrews (October 19), Warhol Superstar Candy Darling (November 16) and the 6th annual Holiday Spectacular (December 7). All performances are Sundays at 9:30 PM. Tracy Stark serves as the show's Music Director. Special guests will be announced shortly.

In his 54 Below debut, Brian will deliver an evening of theatrical gems from the rich history of popular music, stage, and screen such as 'Maria,' 'Finishing the Hat,' 'La Vie En Rose,' and 'Music of the Night.' Each song in the program is the result of requests collected over the last few years from fans! You will be delighted by a few gender-bending surprises, as well as some joyfully comedic medleys, that will leave you wondering whether or not what you're hearing is real! Accompanying Mr. Rooney will be musical director Spencer Crosswell.

Firehouse Theatre begins its summer with a bang as we travel back to the counterculture of the '60s for POP!, a new musical with book and lyrics by Maggie-Kate Coleman and music by Anna K. Jacobs. Directed by Jase Smith (Rocky Horror Show, RENT, Reefer Madness) and sponsored by the Binger Center of Yale Repertory Theatre and The Lewis and Butler Foundation, POP! runs July 11 - August 10, 2013 with an Opening Night performance and reception on Friday, July 12 at 8pm.

Holly Woodlawn Musical to Premiere Off-Broadway?

The Village Voice is reporting that plans are in the works to bring a new Holly Woodlawn musical to an off-Broadway theatre. The blog reports that the writing team will include Penny Rockwell and Lance Cruz, who will also star as Holly. Additional expected casting will include drag stars Brandon Olson and Jackie Curtis.
