When the curtain rises this season on The Color Purple, theatergoers will see Oprah Winfrey's name above the title as producer.

The League of American Theatres and Producers, Inc. today announced the new fall season, highlighted by big names, up-and-coming talent, classic shows, and new works.

VICTORIA CLARK, CELIA KEENAN-BOLGER, BRAD OSCAR, EUGENE LEE, MARSHA NORMAN, DAVID LINDSAY-ABAIRE, LUCY SIMON AND DAVID YAZBEK AMONG PARTICIPANTS IN NEW YORK MUSICAL THEATRE FESTIVAL'S STAR-STUDDED SEMINAR SERIES.

LaChanze has been announced as the star of the upcoming musical The Color Purple, which will begin previews at the Broadway Theatre on November 1st

Frank Wildhorn & Friends was presented at Joe's Pub on Monday, September 5, 2005 and will be repeated on September 12th, and 19th. The September 12th concert takes place at 7:00PM, on September 19th, the show will be performed at 7:00PM, and 9:30PM.

The marquee for The Color Purple, which will begin previews on October 25th and open on December 1st, has been put up at the Broadway Theatre

The Associated Press reports that the musical will open later this year at the Broadway Theatre. Casting is currently underway.
