'Mel Brooks' genius lies not only in that he has created these incredibly hilarious films, but he has written the musical scores as well.' The speaker is Jeremiah James, one of the stars of Young Frankenstein, the blockbuster fourth mainstage show of Maine State Music Theatre's 2015 season, which comes to a close n August 22. James, as well as his colleagues, Missy Dowse (Inga), Dance Captain Buddy Reeder, Music Director Samuel Thorne Bagala, and MSMT's Director of Development Barbara Whidden are talking with BWW's Carla Maria Verdino-Süllwold to a standing-room-only crowd in the last of the summer's Peek Behind the Curtain interview series on August 12 at Brunswick's Curtis Memorial Library. The lively panel is eloquent about Young Frankenstein and about their summer experience at MSMT.

Casting has been announced for the developmental production of the new musical, Missing: Wynter by Billy Butler (Gay Bride of Frankenstein). It will premiere as a part of The Players' Ring Theatre 2014/15 season. Missing: Wynter is a modern cautionary tale somewhere between Cervantes and Brothers Grimm; about a young girl who disappears without a trace, her father's struggle to find her, and ultimately, himself. It's a heart wrenching story of love, hope, and living.

Following the success of their 2012 inaugural season, the iStar Theatre Lab is pleased to announce that they are now accepting submissions for the 2013 iStar Theatre Lab, which will take place in New York City in the fall of 2013. Under the supervision of Tony Spinosa, Producing Artistic Director, and Managing Director Laura Bultman, the three-week Lab (October 7th - 27th) is the centerpiece of the Theatre Lab's year-round work which is to provide a safe environment for the development of contemporary plays and musicals by engaging writers to incubate new works and ideas that engage and challenge diverse audiences.
