Lantern Theater Company has announced its upcoming 2020/21 season, which will include an ambitious and eclectic mix of classic and contemporary work for the stage. The five plays that comprise the company's mainstage season include Tom Stoppard's Tony Award-winning comic masterpiece Travesties; the Philadelphia premiere of two-time Pulitzer Prize-winner Lynn Nottage's satirical Fabulation, or the Re-Education of Undine; Philadelphia legend Frank X in Novecento by Italian writer Alessandro Baricco; Robert Bolt's award-winning classic A Man for All Seasons; and William Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors. The Lantern will also present a remount of its original adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, a new holiday tradition co-created by Philadelphia theater artists Anthony Lawton, Christopher Colucci, and Thom Weaver.

a??a??a??a??a??a??a??Lantern Theater Company launches its 2019/20 season with the Philadelphia premiere of Ralph Manheim's translation of The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui by Bertolt Brecht, which begins previews tonight. Focusing on a shady businessman's rise to power, Brecht wrote this brilliant drama on the eve of World War II as a parable about the rise of Hitler and fascism. Lantern Artistic Director Charles McMahon directs a cast that includes Anthony Lawton as Arturo Ui, with Mary Lee Bednarek, Charlie DelMarcelle, Julia Hopkins, Gregory Isaac, Jered McLenigan, David Pica, Brian Anthony Wilson, and Frank X. Community, collaboration and challenging questions capture the mood at Bristol Riverside Theatre's production of The Christians by Lucas Hnath, running April 30 - May 19. The winner of the 2016 Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding New Off-Broadway Play, The Christians tells the story of Pastor Paul, a man about to preach a sermon that will shake the foundation of his congregation's beliefs. Performances of Measure for Measure begin today, continuing Lantern Theater Company's 25th anniversary season and its annual commitment to produce the timeless stories of William Shakespeare for both the general public and local school students. Arden Theatre Company presents the world premiere of THE LIGHT PRINCESS, adapted from the story by George MacDonald, with book and lyrics by Tony Lawton and original music by Alex Bechtel. Steve Pacek directs. It runs from April 5 - May 28, 2017 on the Arden's F. Otto Haas stage at 40 N. 2nd Street in Philadelphia.

Walnut Street Theatre continues its landmark 208th season with Neil Simon's classic comedy, LAUGHTER ON THE 23RD FLOOR. Directed by Frank Ferrante, the play begins previews on January 17th, opens on January 25th and runs through March 5th on the Walnut's Mainstage. This production is part of a double feature of Simon's work at the Walnut, as Last of the Red Hot Lovers will begin performances the in the Independence Studio on 3 on January 10th.
