The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) today announced the Drama Performer Pre-Nominations for the 44th Annual Daytime Emmy® Awards.

August Wilson's hard-hitting 'Ma Rainey's Black Bottom' opened September 11 and continues through October 16, 2016, at the Center Theatre Group/ Mark Taper Forum. I had completely forgotten that she graduated from Vassar with a major in costume design. It seemed back then that our heroine didn't deem herself pretty enough to make it as a movie star. What a delectable twist of fate.
