Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts announces the 2012 Wolf Trap Ball, the organization's largest annual fundraising event, set to commence Saturday, September 15 on the Filene Center stage at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts.

Twin Cities favorites Nathan Keepers (Estragon) and Jim Lichtscheidl (Vladimir) take on the leading roles in The Jungle Theater's WAITING FOR GODOT, Samuel Beckett's "tragicomedy in two acts," widely considered one of the most significant plays of the 20th century. Artistic Director Bain Boehlke directs the duo who play two old friends debating the meaning of life and the absurdities of human behavior in this funny, captivating and illuminating production. Allen Hamilton (Pozzo) and Charles Schuminski (Lucky) round out the cast.

On June 20, the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce (Fairfax Chamber) awarded Terrence D. Jones, President and CEO of Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts, with the prestigious NOVAForward Award. Bestowed yearly upon a Northern Virginia influencer in honor of their commitment to advancing the region, Jones was recognized during a luncheon attended by 700 leaders of the corporate, nonprofit, and political community.

Ford's Theatre Society on June 3, hosted its annual black-tie gala at Ford's Theatre (511 10th Street NW). Today the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities announced the launch of a new artseducation initiative to help turn around low-performing schools, developed in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Education and the White House Domestic Policy Council. The Turnaround Arts initiative is a new public-private partnership designed to narrow the achievement gap and increase student engagement through the arts. Working in some of the nation's lowest-performing elementary and middle schools, this program will test the hypothesis that high-quality and integrated arts education boosts academic achievement, motivates student learning and improves school culture in the context of overall school reform, announced the committee's co-chairs, George Stevens Jr. and Margo Lion. Presidentially-appointed artists Chuck Close, Yo-Yo Ma, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kerry Washington, Forest Whitaker, Damian Woetzel and Alfre Woodard to work with schools in eight states as part of the program.

Like last season's wildly popular Becky's New Car, which Moore also directed, The Last Seder is a new play with an ironic and sometimes outrageous take on modern romance.

Both nationally-acclaimed authors will share the stage with moderator Julie Allen Hamilton to chat with audience members about their novels.
