Guerilla Opera Premieres GIVER OF LIGHT, 5/23-31

Guerilla Opera presents the World Premiere of Giver of Light, a new opera based on the life of the 13th-century poet, Rumi. Music and Libretto by composer Adam Roberts with electronic music by Anil Çamci and stage direction by Andrew Eggert. Giver of Light runs Thursday-Saturday, May 23-25, 2013 and Thursday-Friday, May 30-31, 2013. All performances are at 8 p.m. at The Zack Box Theater at The Boston Conservatory, 8 The Fenway, Boston, MA. Tickets for all performances are $15 general admission, $10 seniors and free for students with valid IDs; tickets can be purchased from The Boston Conservatory box office at (617) 912-9222 or online at www.bostonconservatory.edu/tickets.

SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark is now in its 2nd smash year on Broadway, and has been seen by more than 1 million audience members from around the world. It features music and lyrics by 22-time Grammy Award-winners Bono and The Edge, direction by Philip William McKinley (The Boy From Oz), and a book co-written by Julie Taymor, Glen Berger(Underneath The Lintel) and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Fantastic Four and Spider-Man comics, 'Big Love'). Just yesterday, Reeve Carney and the ensemble Spider-Men signed copies of their 2013-2014 Calendar in the lobby of the Foxwoods Theatre. Net proceeds from the calendar will go to Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS. Check out photos from the event below!

CAROLS FOR A CURE is the annual two-disc holiday CD compilation of original songs and holiday classics which benefits BC/EFA. These CDs boast the best voices from the worlds of Broadway, Off-Broadway and national tours. A full track list for this year's 14th edition has not yet been announced, but the cast of Broadway's SPIDER-MAN was already hard a work this week recording their track for the album. Vocalists Joanna Jahn, John Trones and Jen Burleigh-Bentz will offer "Yesterday Once More: A Tribute to the Music of the Carpenters" and recreate the music that still resonates with audiences across several generations. The concert will begin at 8:00pm tonight, Monday, Aug. 20 at the SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre (located at 699 S. State, in the middle of SCERA Park, Orem). Jim Brickman, a Grammy-nominated musician, songwriter, pianist and producer created the tribute show and will attend the performance at SCERA and perform as a special guest during the show.
