Bodywork is a new dark comedy, written and performed by Princeton senior Juliette Carbonnier and directed by senior Sabina Jafri, about chronic pain, women’s bodies, and the connection between physical and emotional health. Bodywork follows the story of Maia, a young woman who suffers from inexplicable chronic pain, who becomes a test patient for a radical new surgery that would switch out her current body for a healthy, “pain-free” body. With everyone around her claiming to know what’s best for her body, Maia struggles to decide whether she is willing to leave behind the body she’s known her whole life. The production also features a community art display as part of the set.
Admission: Free and open to the public; advance tickets encouraged available through University Ticketing at tickets.princeton.edu.
Accessibility: The Wallace Theater is an accessible venue with an assistive listening system. The November 9 performance will be live captioned. Guests in need of other access accommodations are invited to contact the Lewis Center at least one week in advance at lewiscenter@princeton.edu
