Palace Theatre Summer Music Tribute Series Kicks Off in July

The Palace Theatre in Downtown Manchester, NH announces the Palace Theatre Summer Music Tribute Series - beginning with a performance by Changes in Latitudes: The Premier Jimmy Buffet Tribute on Saturday, July 6th at 7:30 p.m. Comprised of world-class musicians, and travelling with a full tropical stage set-up, Changes In Latitudes recreates the Jimmy Buffett concert experience with amazing authenticity.

The Palace Theatre Summer Music Series is set with five separate performance dates on Saturdays throughout the summer. All bands will appear on stage at the historic Palace Theatre beginning at 7:30 p.m.

"For this year's Palace Theatre Summer Music Tribute Series we have hand-picked five premier bands to play tribute to and recreate the high-energy live experiences of celebrated performers making their best-loved classics come to life," stated Peter Ramsey, President and CEO of the Palace Theatre. "Each performance will provide the audience with an evening of music that any fan, old or new, will enjoy," adds Ramsey.

Teen Stage Ensemble's GODSPELL Opens at Seacoast Rep Tonight

The Teen Stage Ensemble at the Seacoast Repertory Theatre presents Godspell tonight, May 17th and Saturday May 18th at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday May 19th at 2 p.m.

The heart of the show Godspell is community--a group of people joining together, learning and growing together. This is also the heart of the Teen Stage Ensemble (TSE). Director Monique Peaslee Foote, says the show was originally conceived by John Michael-Tebelak and Stephen Schwartz in 1971 as a project for their senior thesis at Carnegie Melon University. Because it was a thesis for the theater (perhaps their opportunity to show their colleagues all they had learned) it is full of all kinds of wonderful acting/theater genres from vaudeville to puppetry to mime to cabaret.

This show gives students an opportunity to stretch themselves; and to be exposed to parts of theater and theater history that they may not yet have encountered. The show is structured as a series of parables essentially stand-alone sketches that allow us to give the entire 24-person cast an opportunity to play multiple roles. And the roles are fun; from kings to prodigal sons to seedlings to the animals of Noah's Ark. It's all about flexing the imagination and encouraging the actors to take risks and try new things.

The Capitol Center for the Arts Welcomes Chris Mann Tonight

Chris Mann, the classically based pop vocalist and 2012 finalist on NBC's "The Voice," will perform atThe Capitol Center for the Arts tonight, May 15, at 7:30 p.m.

Mann is touring in support of this first album, "Roads," (October 2012), which shot to #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. His PBS special, "A Mann for All Seasons," aired locally on Public Television in March and featurEd Martina McBride and jazz saxophonist Mindi Abair. The special was a re-creation of the Elvis Presley '69 Comeback Special with Mann performing in a boxing ring on a Sony soundstage. Tickets start at $28 and are on sale now.

Chris Mann is a classically trained singer/songwriter originally from Kansas who earned a degree in vocal performance from the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University in Tennessee. He auditioned for the second season of "The Voice" with Andrea Bocelli's "Because We Believe" and was selected to be on Christina Aguilera's team. He sang "The Prayer" as a duet with her and was a finalist, eventually finishing fourth.

Since releasing "Roads," Mann has made numerous high profile television performances including playing for President Obama as part of TNT's "Christmas In Washington" special. He also appeared on "The Today Show," "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and NBC's "Christmas in Rockefeller Center." Mann released a holiday EP, "Home for Christmas," which was sold exclusively at Wal-Mart and hit #1 on the chain's best-selling albums list. He kicked off 2013 with a performance on TBS's "Conan."

Palace Theatre's Wine Tasting and Auction Event to Close Hanover Street, 5/30

On May 30th the Palace Theatre will host its 6th Annual Palace Theatre Wine Tasting and Auction Event, presented by Centrix Bank in partnership with the New Hampshire Liquor & Wine Outlets.

The fundraiser will take place under the "Big White Tent" on Hanover Street, directly in front of the historic theatre on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 5:30 pm. Hanover Street will be closed to traffic beginning at 6:00 am on Thursday, May 30th through noon on Friday, May 31st from Chestnut Street to Elm Street.

The event will feature an opportunity to sample and discover wines from 12 select wine vendors and hors d'oeuvres from more than 12 local restaurants. All proceeds from the ticket donations will benefit the historic Palace Theatre. For tickets or additional details call the Palace Theatre box office at (603)668-5588. AVENUE Q SCHOOL EDITION is a laugh-out-loud musical that tells the timeless story of a recent college grad named Princeton who moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way out on Avenue Q. He soon discovers that although the residents seem nice, it's clear that this is not your ordinary neighborhood. Two Special Events Announced in May at the Peterborough Players

For one night only on Friday, May 17, at 8:00 pm, the Peterborough Players welcomes back to the stage Comedian Jane Condon (star of last season's Janie Condon: Raw & Unchained) for an evening of laughs! As a stand-up comedian, Jane won the Ladies of Laughter contest, won Audience Favorite (NY) on NBC's Last Comic Standing, and has had audiences rolling in the aisles around the country! Last season, you saw the story of how and why Jane became a comedian. Now, see the stand-up act that has made her one of the brightest stars in comedy.
