Spotlight Theatre Company and Firehouse Theatre Company join forces to co-present "Sylvia" opening May 25 and running through June 29, 2013. Performances are Friday/Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $20 Adult/ $18 for Students/Seniors. Group rates are available. Performances are held at the John Hand Theatre, 7653 E. 1st Place, Denver.

Greg and Kate have moved to Manhattan after twenty-two years of child-raising in the suburbs. Greg's career as a financial trader is winding down, while Kate's career as a public-school English teacher is beginning to offer her more opportunities. Greg brings home a dog he found in the park-or that has found him- bearing only the name "Sylvia" on her name tag. A street-smart mutt, Sylvia becomes a major bone of contention between husband and wife. She offers Greg an escape from the frustrations of his job and the unknowns of middle age. To Kate, Sylvia becomes a rival for affection. And Sylvia thinks Kate just doesn't understand the relationship between man and dog. The marriage is put in serious jeopardy, and a series of hilarious and touching complications leads us to the conclusion... Rated "PG"

The cast for "Sylvia" consists of Sara Metz (Sylvia), Andy Anderson (Greg), Molly Killoran (Kate) and Emma Messenger (Tom/Phyllis/Leslie).

A.R. Gurney was born in Buffalo, New York. He began writing plays such as Scenes from American Life, Childrenand The Middle Ages, while at MIT, but it was his great success with The Dining Room that allowed him to write full-time. Since The Dining Room, Gurney has written a number of plays, most of them concerning WASPs of the American northeast. While at Yale, Gurney also wrote the musical:Love in Buffalo. This was the first musical ever produced at the Yale School of Drama.

Gurney has also appeared in several of his plays including The Dining Room and most notably Love Letters. In 2006, Gurney was elected a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters. In 2007, he received the PEN/Laura Pels International Foundation for Theater Award as a master American dramatist. Additionally, Gurney has written several novels, including: The Snow Ball, The Gospel According to Joe andEntertaining Strangers.

Vintage Theatre Productions Remounts RFK, Beginning 5/31

RFK - A Portrait of Robert Kennedy was a run-away hit for Vintage Theatre Productions in January of this year, and overwhelming demand required that the show extend through February.

This critically acclaimed show now returns for a four-week run at the Aurora Fox Arts Center.

This tour-de-force one-man show breathes new life into the back-story of the Kennedy family. RFK creates a very human portrait of a politician and revisits some of the darker moments in U.S. History. Author Jack Holmes expands the well-known facts of a politician's life into a stirring metaphor for the struggle to believe in our government and our leaders.

"RFK - A Portrait of Robert Kennedy," starring James O'Hagan Murphy, returns May 31 through June 23 in the Studio Theatre at the Aurora Fox Arts Center, 9900 E. Colfax Ave., Aurora 80010.

Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 ($20 advance), Senior, Student, Group discounts available.

Tickets are available by calling 303-856-7830 or online at www.vintagetheatre.com.

Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 PM. With a pay-what-you-can Industry Night on Monday, June 3. Tickets are $20 in advance or $22 at the door and are available online at www.EquinoxTheatreDenver.com.
Join Equinox for a night at the best-loved bad hotel in the world. Meet the snobbish, manic Basil; his over-coiffured domineering wife, Sybil; the hopeless but ever-hopeful waiter Manuel; the calm and capable Polly - and of course the steady stream of abused guests. Enjoy four episodes from the classic British Television Comedy that perfectly demonstrates the classic John Cleese-style of humor and mixes it with plenty of slapstick comedy fun. It's a night at the Inn that you will never forget.

The talented cast includes Matt Maxwell as Basil Fawlty, Linnea Lewis as Sybil Fawlty, Natasha Gleichmann as Polly, Mark Shonsey as Manuel, Clint Heyn as Major Gowen, Logan Bretweiser as Terry, and Melissa Pear and Val Purser as Mrs. Tibbs and Mrs. Gatsby.
Fawlty Towers was ranked Britain's Greatest TV Show of the 20th Century by the British Film Institute in 2000, despite the fact that only 12 episodes were ever made.

Fawlty Towers was inspired by a rude hotel proprietor John Cleese encountered whilst away filming with the Monty Python team.

McMurphy (Scott Bellot). McMurphy is transferred from a prison work farm to the hospital, thinking it will be an easy way to serve out his sentence.
Completing the cast (in alphabetical order) are Ryan Danielson (Aide Williams), Marq Del Monte (Ruckly), Randy Diamon (Dr. Spivey), Kelly Dwyer (Nurse Flinn), Ryan Goold (Martini), John Greene (Cheswick), Leroy Leonard (Scanlon), Amy Luna (Sandra), Peter Marullo (Aide Warren), Paul Page (Dale Harding), Maggy Stacy (Candy Starr) and Joe Von Bokern (Billy Bibbit).

Tony Award-Winner Stephen Sondheim creates a stunning tour de force when he takes Ingmar Bergman's Smiles of a Summer Night and turns it into a musical of masterful execution and elegance. With several Tony Awards to its name, this is a musical work that has forever entranced the world of theatre.Set in 1900 Sweden, A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC explores the tangled web of affairs centered around actress Desiree Armfeldt and the men who love her -- a lawyer by the name of Fredrik Egerman and the Count Carl-Magnus Malcom. When the actress performs in Fredrik's town, the estranged lovers' passion rekindles. The encounter strikes a flurry of jealousy and suspicion amongst the cast of characters: Desiree, Fredrik, Fredrik's wife Anne, Desiree's current lover the Count, and the Count's wife Charlotte. Both men, as well as their jealous wives, agree to join Desiree and her family for a weekend in the country at Desiree's mother's estate. With everyone in one place, infinite possibilities of new romances and second chances bring endless surprises.A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC is full of hilariously witty and heartbreakingly moving moments of adoration, regret and desire. This dramatic musical celebration of love is perfect for showcasing trained singers with its harmonically-advanced score and complex arrangements.

Bialystock and Bloom! Those names should strike terror and hysteria in anyone familiar with Mel Brooks' classic cult comedy film. Now as a big Broadway musical, THE PRODUCERS

once again sets the standard for modern, outrageous, in-your-face

humor. It is a truly "boffo" hit, winning a record twelve Tony Awards

and wowing capacity crowds night after night.

The plot is simple: a down-on-his-luck Broadway producer and his

mild-mannered accountant come up with a scheme to produce the most

notorious flop in history thereby bilking their backers (all "little old

ladies") out of millions of dollars. Only one thing goes awry: the show

is a smash hit! The antics of Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom as they

maneuver their way fecklessly through finding a show (the gloriously

offensive "Springtime For Hitler"), hiring a director, raising the money

and finally going to prison for their misdeeds is a lesson in broad

comic construction. At the core of the insanely funny adventure is a

poignant emotional journey of two very different men who become friends.

With a truly hysterical book co-written by Mel Brooks

	and Thomas Meehan

(ANNIE) and music and lyrics by Mr. Brooks

, THE PRODUCERS skewers Broadway traditions and takes no prisoners as it proudly proclaims itself an "equal opportunity offender!"

The seminal event in American history blazes to vivid life in this most unconventional of Broadway hits. 1776 puts a human face on the pages of history as we see the men behind the national icons: proud, frightened, uncertain, irritable, charming, often petty and ultimately noble figures determined to do the right thing for a fledgling nation. It's the summer of 1776, and the nation is ready to declare independence...if only our founding fathers can agree to do it! 1776 follows John Adams of Massachusetts, Benjamin Franklin of Pennsylvania, and Richard Henry Lee and Thomas Jefferson of Virginia as they attempt to convince the members of the second Continental Congress to vote for independence from the shackles of the British monarchy by signing the Declaration of Independence.1776 is a funny, insightful, and compelling drama with a striking score and legendary book. It is an extremely flexible show that can be performed with characters as written or as a concert version 1776 STAGED CONCERT VERSIONThe MTI Marquee provides a number of articles on unique staging and casting ideas for 1776 in order to make the show more produce-able in your theatre while remaining engaging to audience members. Of particular note is a Staged Concert Version of the show which allows for blind casting and minimal costumes.

In the Little Village of Anatevka, Tevye, a poor dairyman, tries to instill in his five daughters the traditions of his tight-knit Jewish community in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia. Rich in historical and ethnic detail, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF
has touched audiences around the world with its humor, warmth and
honesty. The universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race,

Vintage Theatre Opens AND THEN THERE WAS NUN Tonight

Vintage Theatre presents "And Then There Was Nun" by Richard T. Witter and Bruce W. Gilray, directed by Peter Hughes, running tonight, May 17 - June 16, 2013.

A parody of the great Agatha Christie thrillers of the 1940's, And Then There Was Nun is a vampy cross-dressing cocktail of humor and "whodunit" as actors emulate your favorite movie stars of the past. Who committed murder? Was it Joan Crawford, Bette Davis, Katherine Hepburn, Judy Garland or Marilyn Monroe?

Take one foreboding mansion on a secluded island, throw in ten whacked-out members of The Holy Order of the Sisters of San Andreas, stir in their unseen and mysterious leader, add an assortment of the sharpest tongues this side of Hollywood and Vine; then infuse with a healthy dose of some of the most famous lines in cinema (slightly warped). Roast well in a preheated treasure trove of movie facts, trivia, legends and gossip for two acts, sit back and savor. ...And Then There Was Nun is a treat for movie buffs and non-movie buffs alike.

The cast, in alphabetical order, includes Kathi Baerns (Sister Judy), Kerry Beebe (Sister Tallulah), Abby Apple Boes (Sister Gloria), Preston Lee Britton (Sister Vivien), Geri Crawley (Sister Hattie), Shane Delavan (Sister Joan), Bob Leggett (Sister Bette), Suzanne Nepi (Sister Mae), Richard-Curtis Simpson (Sister Alfred), Diane Thiemann (Sister Marilyn) and Cathy Washburn (Sister Katharine).
