Laverne & Shirley's Cindy Williams to Star in WEEKEND COMEDY

Craig Smith, Managing Partner of the Alhambra Theatre & Dining, announced this morning the addition of a new comedy, Weekend Comedy, and a new guest star, Cindy Williams, to its 2013 line up. Cindy Williams is best known for starring from 1976 to 1982 in the television situation-comedy series Laverne & Shirley, in the role of Shirley Feeney, and for her role as Laurie Henderson in the classic film "American Graffiti." Cindy brings her considerable talents to the Alhambra for four special weeks September 18 - October 20, 2013.

Williams began her professional career by landing national commercials, which included Foster Grant sunglasses and TWA. Her first roles in television, among others, were on Room 222, Nanny and the Professor and Love, American Style.

In Weekend Comedy, two couples, one older and one younger have accidentally rented the same cottage for a three-day weekend. They decide to share it. The show unfolds with a comedic clash between generations. Ms. Williams and Weekend Comedy replace on the original schedule a show that would have featured George Wendt. Mr. Wendt had to reschedule his appearance to a later date. Ms. Williams had a similar conflict last year and is now scheduled to thrill the Alhambra audiences.

"We could not be more excited to welcome Cindy to our Alhambra family," said Smith. "The few times I have mentioned it to audiences before a show, they have gasped. She is a wonderful person and a wonderful actor, and I know Jacksonville will welcome her as we all have. The show is fantastic and got rave reviews where it's played. It will be a great fall frolic here, too."

THE RASCALS: ONCE UPON A DREAM to Launch North American Tour, May 24

Producers Steven Van Zandt and Maureen Van Zandt, Marc Brickman, Larry Magid and Base Entertainment have announced that the sold-out Broadway engagement The Rascals: Once Upon a Dream will embark on a tour to play venues across North America. The tour kicks off May 24, 2013 at Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Tickets for the Hard Rock engagement playing from May 24-27, 2013 range from $54 to $84 and are on sale at Ticketmaster.com (1.800.745.3000).

THE RASCALS: ONCE UPON A DREAM, premiered on Broadway to critical acclaim this spring selling out 15 performances. The show is directed by Steven Van Zandt and Marc Brickman, with music by Felix Cavaliere and Eddie Brigati. The Rascals: Once Upon a Dream has stage, video and lighting design by Brickman and has music production and is written by legendary guitarist Van Zandt. Performances began Monday, April 15th at Broadway's Richard Rodgers Theatre (226 West 46th Street), and play through Sunday, May 5th. Opening night was Tuesday, April 16th.

A hybrid of a rock 'n' roll concert and a Broadway show, The Rascals: Once Upon a Dream marks the first time The Rascals, America's classic blue-eyed soul band, have played together since 1970. Original band members Felix Cavaliere (keyboard & vocals), Eddie Brigati (vocals), Dino Danelli (drums) and Gene Cornish (guitar) will present a complete concert performance including songs that captured the spirit of America in the 1960's, such as their smash hits "Good Lovin'," "Lonely Too Long," "It's a Beautiful Morning," "How Can I Be Sure" and "Groovin'." The production will also feature the history of the iconic group told through archival footage, narration, and dramatic film segments viewed on the latest LED screen technology. The Rascals: Once Upon a Dream made its debut at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY. Originally scheduled to play three performances in December 2012, an additional three shows had to be added to accommodate the demand for this unique concert experience.

Tickets for The Rascals: Once Upon a Dream on Broadway are on sale now and prices range from $27-137 (including a $2 facility fee) and can be purchased by visiting www.Ticketmaster.com, or calling 877-250-2929. Alhambra Wins Two Best of Jax Awards

Jacksonville Magazine bestowed the Alhambra Theatre & Dining two awards in this year's Best of Jacksonville issue. The Alhambra was named "Best Dining Destination" and Managing Partner Craig Smith was named a "Local Hero" for breathing new life into the nation's longest-running dinner theater. May's "Best of Jax" issue hit newsstands today.

Said Smith, "While I am humbled and flattered I was recognized for "saving" the Alhambra, I am proud beyond compare of achieving the Best Dining Destination. It is with incredible teamwork that we were able to impress the voters enough to win this award, and I am grateful to all our entire staff for creating an experience worthy of such praise."
