Broadway's legendary musical has been specially adapted to meet the
needs of young performers. This author-approved edition has been
abridged to a running time of just over two hours, while carefully
maintaining the integrity of one the greatest musicals ever written. This
epic story recounts the struggle against adversity in 19th century
France. Imprisoned for stealing a loaf of bread, petty thief Jean
Valjean is released from his 19-year term and not only becomes and
honest man, but the mayor of a prosperous town and a loving adoptive
father - violating his parole in the process. The relentless Inspector
Javert, who makes a decent life for Valjean impossible, consequently
pursues him. Only years later, after Valjean proves his mettle during a
bloody student uprising and saves the life of a young man hopelessly in
love with Valjean's adopted daughter, does the ex-convict finally feel
fully redeemed.Originally adapted from Victor Hugo's timeless novel, LES MISÃ?RABLES SCHOOL EDITION introduces a new generation to the grand and inspirational story that has touched the hearts of millions. For, within LES MISÃ?RABLES SCHOOL EDITION
lies the universal truth "To love another person is to see the face of
God" and this message is sure to have a lasting impact on your cast,
crew, audience, and school alike.

Suppose you're an attractive high school girl and you're not only a member of a large and unique family but your father is, in fact, one of the great pioneers of industrial efficiency. Then suppose he decides, for no apparent reason, to apply his unorthodox methods to you and to the rest of your big family. The results are terribly embarrassing, funny and-it must be admitted-extremely effective! To Anne, however, the chief effect seems to be that of making them seem ridiculous to everyone else at school-especially to the boys! Dad pushes ahead with better organization for his large and delightful family. He puts up a chart for the young people to initial after completing each household task, uses a rung as an imaginary bathtub to demonstrate how to take a really efficient bath and appoints a utilities officer to levy fines on wasters of electricity. While the situations are often uproarious, there's a serious reason. Dad has a heart condition which he's keeping secret. The children don't understand them. Anne, the oldest, rebels. Both Dad and she are miserable at the lack of understanding between them. Then in a deft and moving scene, Dad becomes aware of how much Anne has grown up.

Don William's music is the stuff of experience. This is a man who has lived life, who knows the depth of feeling and emotion ordinary people are capable of, not only in Texas, but in all the other places where his straightforward simplicity has made its mark the - Brazil, Britain, Ireland, Africa, Australia, Finland, Norway and many more.

More so than any composer and lyricist who have written for the stage, the songs of Rodgers & Hammerstein have become an integral part of our everyday lives. We sing them in the shower, we dance to them in ballrooms, we hear them on the radio and in clubs and, yes, in elevators and supermarkets too. We still thrill to them on the live stage in their respective shows, and we teach them to our children. This stunning collection of compositions places five performers in a theatrical setting-first 'backstage,' where the songs are sung as personal interplay, and then 'onstage.' While offering the performers an opportunity to explore the songs within their own styles and sensibilities, it offers the audience a glorious parade of genuine hits.Music by Rodgers, Richard; Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II; Concept by Jeffrey B.

Bringing percussion from the back of the orchestra to the front of the concert stage, the Sympatico Percussion Group is an engaging chamber quintet that will showcase percussion like you've never seen or heard it before!

Their repertoire consists of a wide variety of styles, including contemporary, ragtime, world, rudimental and jazz compositions, as well as pieces the group has composed for themselves. Sympatico is a fusion of five talented individuals who blend together their unique percussive talents, creating sounds that will both amaze and inspire.

At a Sympatico concert, you will see and hear an eclectic array of instruments represented, from the traditional (drums, xylophone, woodblocks, cymbals), to those of world origins (West African djembe, Middle Eastern doumbek and riq, bongos and congas from Latin America, Chinese tom toms), to the unique and unusual (clay flower pots, toy xylophone, boomwhackers, waterphone & metal buckets).

Over the past several years, Sympatico has appeared at numerous Percussive Arts Society 'Days of Percussion' across the country, as well as at the 2012 PAS International Convention. Collectively, members of Sympatico have performed as soloists and chamber musicians across the globe in locations that include the Czech Republic, China, England, France, Germany, Lithuania, Mexico, Poland, Spain and Sweden.

All five members hold university level teaching positions, where they mentor the next generation of young percussionists across the country. Sympatico is comprised of Scott Herring (University of South Carolina), Kris Keeton (University of North Carolina-Greensboro), Joseph Krygier (The Ohio State University), Christopher Norton (Belmont University) and Susan Powell (The Ohio State
University).

Susan Powell has Wyoming roots, having grown up in Casper. She studied for many years with former long-time Casper College faculty member Terry Gunderson, and performed often with the CC Percussion Ensemble, as well as the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra. She has been a guest of ARTCORE numerous times over the past ten years, appearing with the Pendulum Percussion Duo, as well as with the Ohio State University Percussion Ensemble.

The 'G2K' Getting To Know Series: Uniquely adapted musicals specifically for youth performers. If you thought you knew the story of 'The Princess and The Pea,' you may be in for a walloping surprise! Did you know, for instance, that Princess Winnifred actually swam the moat to reach Prince Dauntless the Drab? Or that it may not have been the pea at all that caused the princess a sleepless night? Carried on a wave of beguiling songs, by turns hilarious and raucous, romantic and melodic, this rollicking spin on the familiar classic of royal courtship and comeuppance provides for some side-splitting shenanigans. Chances are, you'll never look at fairy tales quite the same way again. In this adaptation for pre-high school students, the content has been edited to better suit younger actors and audiences, but all the magic, hilarity and fun of the original are still in place. G2K? ONCE UPON A MATTRESS is the perfect show to introduce young people to the magic of live theater. PLEASE NOTE: All schools wishing to peruse or perform a G2K musical should apply through theMusic by Mary Rodgers; Book by Jay Thompson & Dean Fuller & Marshall Barer; Lyrics by Marshall Barer; Adapted by Tom Briggs

The Brothers Grimm "go Broadway" as Sondheim and Lapine offer up a cockeyed fairy tale where all of your favorite characters""Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (and his beanstalk) and The Witch""meet and interact on their journeys. With unforgettable roles, little dancing and no chorus, INTO THE WOODS JR. showcases a medium-sized ensemble of talented singers and actors. The sophisticated score has been adapted to make it easier--though still challenging--for young performers. INTO THE WOODS JR. is a funny and engaging way to get young people to think about the stories with which they've grown up and the ethical issues raised therein.

Their name, Montana Skies, is a metaphor for musical freedom, and they continue to follow their creative instincts far beyond traditional boundaries. In concert, these award winning musicians delve into music from Pink Floyd and Rush to Vivaldi, and House of the Rising Sun, as well as their own originals that have been featured everywhere from NPR to the Travel Channel. Montana Skies seemingly non-stop tour schedule has taken them all across the US as well as to Canada, Asia, and Russia; and their dedication to their musical vision has helped them build an enthusiastic grassroots fan base along the way. Combining elements of classical technique, jazz improv and the power and energy of rock n' roll; Jonathan's guitar wizardry and Jenn's blazing electric cello combine to create a sound that is truly remarkable. While the music defies simple categorization, it is a fusion in the truest sense of the word. It's been called everything from chamber rock to psychedelic strings. Whatever you want to call it, rest assured, this ain't your grannies chamber music.

Jonathan and Jennifer met while studying music at the University of Georgia, in Athens, GA. Recognizing a kindred spirit in each other's devotion to their music, the desire to share music together was ignited immediately. The two assumed they would be performing classical recitals and great works for the cello and guitar; then, in one trip to the library to select music, their whole world of classical intentions came crashing down. The discovery: music written for cello and guitar was as rare as the combination itself -- no great classical works existed. What resulted from this new musical freedom of expression between the two was the formation of Montana Skies, and a unique style of music that would garner instant recognition and praise. Jonathan explains, "The fact that 'ready made' repertoire is not available for our combination of instruments is really what pushes us to be more creative with our music. We love composing and arranging, and appreciate the opportunity to present old favorites, along with newer music, to our audiences."

Jonathan's full length instructional book and CD, "Getting Into Fingerstyle Guitar" was published in 2002 by Mel-Bay Publications. Additional publications are in-the-works.

The quartet is committed to pushing the limits of the classical string quartet and to changing the concert experience of chamber music. Using innovative programming, thematic concerts, popular music for younger generations, cameras and video to assist in the visual presentation, as well as speaking from the stage to better engage the audience, Carpe Diem is bringing new audiences into the concert hall and revitalizing the chamber music experience.

In a Maine coastal village toward the end of the 19th century, the swaggering, carefree carnival barker, Billy Bigelow, captivates and marries the naive millworker, Julie Jordan. Billy loses his job just as he learns that Julie is pregnant and, desperately intent upon providing a decent life for his family, he is coerced into being an accomplice to a robbery. Caught in the act and facing the certainty of prison, he takes his own life and is sent 'up there.' Billy is allowed to return to earth for one day fifteen years later, and he encounters the daughter he never knew. She is a lonely, friendless teenager, her father's reputation as a thief and bully having haunted her throughout her young life. How Billy instills in both the child and her mother a sense of hope and dignity is a dramatic testimony to the power of love. It's easy to understand why, of all the shows they created, CAROUSEL was Rodgers & Hammerstein's personal favorite.Music by Rodgers, Richard; Book by Oscar Hammerstein II; Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II; Based on the Play LILIOM by Ferenc Molnar; As adapted by Benjamin F. A harrowing shipwreck separates twins Viola and Sebastian-but tragedy turns to comedy when they wash up on the shores of Illyria, a land turned upside-down by passion and a colorful cast of characters. In Shakespeare's madcap dance of mistaken identities, cunning plans, and miraculous discoveries, the only real mistake to make is not to love at all.

Casper College woodwind instructor Jerome Fleg has been performing with the award-winning Antero Wind Quintet for the past eight years. Known for their artistic sensitivity and exuberant stage presence, the quintet has been attracting attention worldwide as a talented and engaging young international woodwind quintet. The Antero Winds have performed in Lander and Laramie, and this concert marks their first performance in Casper. In addition to serving their Rocky Mountain community, the Antero Winds have also traveled the world to perform, compete, and educate, always striving to present performances that are as interesting and satisfying to music connoisseurs as they are to those with little prior experience with classical music. The distinct backgrounds, personalities, and styles of the quintet's members combine to create the Antero Winds' signature blend and performance style..

During their years as the Arundo Winds, the quintet won first prize at the Plowman Chamber Music Competition and a silver medal at the prestigious Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. In 2008, they

were the only U.S.-based semi-finalists at the International Chamber Music Competition in Lyon, France. Individual members of the group have also won numerous prizes at solo competitions worldwide.

Educational outreach has brought the quintet to schools and communities throughout Colorado and the wider world. The Antero Winds have had an ongoing relationship with the Aspen Music Festival and School, which has brought them to Western Colorado for a series of mini-residencies with the public schools in the Roaring Fork Valley. They have also played school programs and led band clinics throughout the Denver metropolitan area. In 2006, the quintet traveled to Caracas, Venezuela, where they worked with students at a local FESNOJIV (nationally sponsored youth orchestra) school. These educational programs play a central role in the Antero Winds' mission, and the quintet is constantly seeking new opportunities and approaches to share their passion for music with students and community members of all ages.

The Biblical saga of Joseph and his coat of many colors comes to vibrant life in this delightful musical parable. Joseph, his father's favorite son, is a boy blessed with prophetic dreams. When he is sold into slavery by his jealous brothers and taken to Egypt, Joseph endures a series of adventures in which his spirit and humanity are continually challenged. He is purchased by Potiphar where thwarting advances from Potiphar's wife lands him in jail. When news of Joseph's gift to interpret dreams reaches the Pharaoh (wryly and riotously depicted as Elvis), Joseph is well on his way to becoming second in command. Eventually his brothers, having suffered greatly, unknowingly find themselves groveling at the feet of the brother they betrayed but no longer recognize. After testing their integrity, Joseph reveals himself leading to a heartfelt reconciliation of the sons of Israel. Set to an engaging cornucopia of musical styles, from country-western and calypso to bubble-gum pop and rock 'n' roll, this Old Testament tale emerges both timely and timeless.Lyrics by Tim Rice; Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber

FOREVER PLAID is one of the most popular and successful musicals in recent memory. This deliciously goofy revue centers on four young, eager male singers killed in a car crash in the 1950's on the way to their first big concert, and now miraculously revived for the posthumous chance to fulfill their dreams and perform the show that never was. Singing in the closest of harmony, squabbling boyishly over the smallest intonations and executing their charmingly outlandish choreography with over-zealous precision, the "Plaids" are a guaranteed smash, with a program of beloved songs and delightful patter that keeps audiences rolling in the aisles when they're not humming along to some of the great nostalgic pop hits of the 1950's.

A down-and out skid row floral assistant becomes an overnight sensation
when he discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for fresh
blood. Soon "Audrey II" grows into an ill-tempered, foul-mouthed,
R&B-singing carnivore who offers him fame and fortune in exchange
for feeding its growing appetite, finally revealing itself to be an
alien creature poised for global domination! One of the
longest-running Off-Broadway shows of all time, this affectionate spoof
of 1950s sci-fi movies has become a household name, thanks to a highly
successful film version and a score by the songwriting team of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, who redefined the animated musical film with Disney's The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin. Charming, tuneful and hilarious, with tongue firmly planted in cheek, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS never fails to entertain. A small cast, band and unit set make the other aspects of production a snap.
