The season was recently announced and it sounds really exciting - The Rose Tattoo starring Marisa Tomei in particular sounds enthralling - giving some thought to returning for a long weekend.
With that being said, I have noticed in years prior, the initially announcement almost always ends up changing with casting and direction - might have to wait a beat before getting tickets to this - although I've never seen this particular Williams play...
I am a longtime Williamstown subscriber and with the exception of Chris Pine and Lauren Ambrose both dropping out of Fool For Love (and being replaced by Sam Rockwell and Nina Arianda, both of whom were amazing and as we know, ended up bringing the show to Broadway) and Kelli O'Hara dropping out of The Bridges of Madison County (for a pretty unavoidable reason -- her pregnancy), I don't recall many significant casting changes in recent years. Marisa Tomei has a long history with the festival; I doubt she'll drop out unless something major happens.
Yes, but that was because the foreign star was unable to gain a visa to enter the country, which at the end of the day is out of their control. And to say that they lost a whole show is somewhat incorrect; Chewing Gum Dreams was to be performed in a double-bill with another full-length play (Mike Bartlett's An Intervention) and they just did that play as a standalone evening instead.
Oh man I'd love to see that. Tattoo is due for a major revival. I wonder who they could cast as Alvarro?
