The annual Chicago Theatre Week promotion begins February 11 thru 21. If you are in Chicago or visiting, check out the following website. Over 100 productions are featured and over 700 performances are being offered at ticket prices of $15 or $30.
Thanks for the heads up! I'll actually be there not this coming but the next weekend. I don't know anything about Chicago theaters or productions. Is there anything you'd recommend?
I'm really hoping to see 2666 at the Goodman. At almost 5 hours it's quite a commitment though! Same with the Flick (slightly shorter but still a long one), which is at steppenwolf and I'm also planning to see. The only other show playing right now that I've seen is Bye Bye Birdie. The cast is great but if you've limited time in Chicago I don't know that it's worth the trek out to oakbrook unless it's one of your favorite shows or something.
But note that it includes the suburbs so be sure to check out where the theater is!
There were so many good shows this fall that I missed because I was traveling for work. Bummed about that. (At least I was traveling to New York so I got in a TON of Broadway shows... Guess I can't complain. :))
I saw The Flick at Steppenwolf and it had been a while since I had been impressed with a Steppenwolf show. Watching it I kept waiting for this massive pauses that had everyone all riled up, and they never seemed to come. Unless this was it, and I think people made a huge deal about nothing. Solid performances, great design. 2666 sounds like that kind of show you HAVE to see, just say you saw it, and I really want to check that one out as well.
And I'll freely admit, I'm part of the company that is producing High Fidelity and have to mention that for Theatre Week we are sold out, but do have a waiting list. We're performing the show in a found loft space decked out like the record store, so we can only seat about 50 per show.
