Does anyone what nph made? And what James corden will be making. I bet they would still make a low amount since they both did/will be working for CBS at the time they host(ed)

That's probably more than Kristin made per week doing On the 20th Century. I don't see the issue. You don't go into theater for the money.

2700 is hardly worth the time and effort put into it. I'm sure Hugh Jackman got paid FAR more than that.

It does seem very little considering it's a live TV special that required lots of rehearsal, and they both did a TON of press in the days/weeks leading up to it, and were also co-writers of the material (although they also joked about how heavily they were censored in the kinds of jokes they wanted to do lol)
But they way it was presented really wasn't meant as a complaint. It was a funny sketch they did as part of Allen's show. The way they talked about it was that they described how much hard and stressful work the whole thing was, and that you'd expect to get lots of $$ because it's a big TV gig. Then they asked the audience to guess, then gave the number, and continued by saying they were of course only told after they had agreed to do it. And then Kristin added it wouldn't even pay for a pair of Louboutin's, pointing to her sparkly shoes (I don't know where the subway fare reference comes from, I didn't hear that being said?).
The whole thing was quite hilarious, fitting with the theme of them singing "Easy Street" before, and was anything but a rant or complaint. Just to put that into perspective :) Kristin has said many times in the months after she would do it again if asked, so she clearly didn't mind too much. Just enough to make fun of it.

Wow the amount they were paid is pretty offensive. $2700 to host a nationally broadcast awards ceremony, no matter how "niche" it may be, is ridiculous. How did either of their agents approve of that???

You just know CBS has a whole sob story about how nobody watches and they can barely afford to show the awards and our budget is so low because the ratings are so low.
Hell, somebody should give them one of those Marie Antoinette-level Oscar nominee gift bags for hosting the Tony'ies'es.

If that other article is true that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler got "low six figures" (meaning something like $250,000) to host the Golden Globes, the $2700 figure is ridiculous. No wonder no one wants to do it.
I am having trouble finding online what the union minimum is for appearing as a principal performer on a 3 hour long television show, but I don't think it's that much lower than $2700.
(Of course, the Super Bowl halftime performers work for free, so maybe that's CBS's pitch to the Tonys host. "This is like being on the Super Bowl!"
