I have this whole thing on a dvd that was transferred from an old vhs tape. It is the weirdest thing in the world. The sets seem to be painted on cardboard cut outs, as are most of the extras. Bizarre animations are inserted into the songs in place of choreography, and the performances are incredibly cheesey.
Stuff like this is why the TV musical died the first time around. It is still worth watching for a good laugh.
Yes! It looks and feels very similar. Of course, being a comic book chsracter, Superman can live in a paint-on-cardboard world and it fits, that wasn't so much the case here.
Oh man, that IS trippy! I can't believe those cuts to animation. And who cast the lovely and talented Remick (who clearly can't dance) in a role that was written for one of the most gifted dancers to ever grace the stage? And Joe's eyes! Insane.
