I've looked at several threads discussing Kinky Boots seating, but haven't found anyone talking specifically about the very front row of the orchestra section.  Has anyone sat there for Kinky Boots?  I see "full view" seats in the front row are available for $175, while seats a couple rows back are $199.  Are there any obvious problems with the front row, aside from the obvious pros/cons of being that close?  Is an average-height person going to be able to see over the edge of the stage?  Is there a normal amount of leg room?  Any other obvious problems?

Thanks in advance!

Generally front row is always to close. For a musical, it is really a bad move.

I sat there once..it's not a BAD seat. In some theaters, the stage is really tall - so for example, when I saw Annie from the front row, I could barely see the dog and much of the dancing. Also, my friend just said she had front row at Something Rotten, and missed the tap dancing as she couldn't see any feet. I didn't find that problem here. I think the leg room is similar to the regular seats - or slightly better than some.

That said, you have more depth perception from a few rows back so for a first time viewer, I can see why those seats would be preferable. You do get a good view of the orchestra from the front row if that is of any interest to you.

We sat 2nd row orchestra for Rotten (won the lottery) and could not see the bottom 3 rd of the actors. Anything past the mid calf was not visible until they moved toward the back of the stage.

It's all really subjective. I would ALWAYS prefer to be front row, center for any show. I sat front row, center section, on the left aisle for KINKY BOOTS and thought it was an AMAZING seat. I didn't feel like a missed anything at all and enjoyed getting to see the faces perfectly. But, I have friends who prefer front row mezzanine to get a look at the "whole picture" as they call it. I see the whole picture, I just have to turn my head a little. LOL!!! Again, it's all what your personal preference is.

Thanks for all the great answers, everyone.  Any further advice would be appreciated; I'm probably going to go ahead and buy tonight.  If I do end up in the front row, I'll try to report back for anyone who comes upon this thread down the road...

How are the extreme sides of the orchestra at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre? How far back would you recommend for an optimal view of the stage?

I sat in the front row center orch when I won the lottery and was great. You’re not right up against the stage because the pit is in front of the stage, creating a little distance. It is better to be a little off center so you’re not right behind the conductor.
It was a little close to all of the “body parts” but all in all a fabulous front row.

What do you mean by "body parts"? I haven't watch the show so this may be going right over my head or do you mean that the theatre seats are cramped?

Lola's girls do a lot of sexual dance moves pretty much right at eye level. I don't have a problem with it, but I remember thinking that some people, like my parents, might be a little uncomfortable being so close.

When reading this thread, I didn't realize I was responding to something that was 3 years old.

As far as extreme sides go, I've also sat in the box and had a fabulous view.

Wow, thanks for the quick response. The box seats and the extreme sides are listed as partial view. Is it really that obstructed and would you prefer the extreme side orchestra or box seats?

I hate the Box seats. When I won the lottery, I sat there and you miss a lot. If you get a short person in front of you, it may be better, but everyone in front of me was quite tall so I could only see half of the stage.
Front row seats are AMAZING. Especially if you’re center, and they sing “Not My Father’s Son” right in front of you. It’s an amazing experience and it’s definitely not too close.

OnBroadway4,

The left box is okay but only the front 2 seats.  If you can pull that off, you'll be okay.
